フィードバックを提供するLily in the Valley lives up to its tranquil and inviting name. It is a lovely, small restaurant with a welcoming vibe created by its enthusiastic and friendly owners. We couldn't help ourselves and had to order a second plate of the delicious vegetarian dumplings! The tea was presented in very pretty pot. The décor is fresh, clean and sweet. The atmosphere could be improved by dimming the lighting as it was too bright and detracted from the otherwise warm atmosphere. We will definitely be going again for our dumpling fix!
The staff who run the place are friendly and bubbly, making the experience of being in a tiny shop front more than a pleasure. <br/ The tea collection, while not massive, has plenty on it and for a great price.<br/ The dumplings were hand made (and the impression we received was that they were made to order fresh and delicious. While slightly on the expensive side (but not massively for dumplings, it was well worth it to not have to travel closer into the city for fresh, hot and delicious dumplings. (If you're a sweet tooth, we recommend the pumpkin dumplings for a final hoorah. <br/ <br/ The place has the space for about 12 people at most, and as we went at 6:30pm on a Wednesday night, the place was full with people occasionally waiting 5 10 minutes for a table to clear. <br/ Keep in mind that they keep the place fairly cool, possibly to compensate for the kitchen out back so just make sure to take a jumper or jacket with you. <br/ <br/ There is plenty of parking due to it being in the shopping centre, or there is the pub carpark across the road if need be. <br/ <br/ We will be back in no time! Thanks to the crew there for such a delightful experience.
Stumbled across this place recently with my wife for dinner. It's a very small cafe style Chinese fusion restaurant with a modern and clean feel. The service is very good and the owner manager is efficient and very friendly. The presentation of the food was very good even the beautiful teapot with the generously leafed Chinese tea although I've had better tasting food and the price was on the high side for an outer suburbs restaurant. It was also too bright in there with both ceiling downlights and pendants turned on, but I appreciate they're a new restaurant and still finding their feet, and once I asked if they could be dimmed it had a much better ambience. We had peking duck wraps (very well balanced, tender meat and tasty 8.5 10), pork spring rolls (bit oily but otherwise not bad (7 10), Grandma's king prawn spring rolls (very different interesting, but enjoyable 7.5 10), steamed dim sims (bit bland, corriander infused dipping sauce was odd 6.5 10), honey pepper beef fillet with broccoli (bland and lacking in flavour, broccoli was cooked perfectly but without any flavour whatsoever, and the sauce from the meat was too watery and flavourless to season, but the onions were good 6 10), and Singapore noodles (decent, but average slightly bland 6.5 10). However, all dishes were well presented and my wife thought it had a really nice atmosphere (personally I prefer the dimly lit 80s and in need of renovation traditional Cantonese restaurants). We didn't finish everything and the manager even gave us some complimentary bbq pork buns to take home with the leftovers which were great (8 10). I love Cantonese food and we regularly eat at Chinese restaurants (I have tried almost all within a 10km range). I can think of a handful of places off the top of my head with better food value but would probably go back as my wife liked it, and it's nice to support new and upcoming small businesses. I imagine other people who like more modern fusion restaurants would rate this much higher. Worth a visit try for yourself!
Food was beautiful <br/ Sweat and sour pork was unbelievable and cheap as chips!!! <br/ Went for dinner dumplings then back for lunch the next day. <br/ Staff were super friendly and the tea selection they had was great!!! <br/
Best Chinese food in Melbourne especially if you’re looking for Vegetarian as they’ve got plenty of options. Had fried vegetarian dumplings and vegetarian soup. It was so far the best I’ve tried in Melbourne! Must visit if you’re coming to Dandenong!!
