フィードバックを提供するWe were the only patrons in the dining area throughout our visit, and now we understand why. The food was far from acceptable. The chicken had tough, inedible skin; the coleslaw was limp and soupy, as if it was a day old; and the French fries were pale, soggy, and undercooked. When we commented on the food, our waitress mentioned that she had just heard the restaurant had been sold.
We visited Ginny's Kitchen for the first time and appreciated how easy it was to get a table without the place feeling overcrowded. The food was decent, though nothing exceptional stood out among the entrees. However, the selection of wines by the glass was lacking, with no decent Chardonnays or Cabernets available. The only Zinfandel offered was priced at $19. If we decide to return, I might explore a hard liquor option instead.
Three out of the four of us ordered the BBQ chicken po' boy, and it received amazing, rave reviews—truly outstanding. I chose the shrimp and grits, which are a favorite of mine and were delicious, though they were prepared differently than I remembered from previous visits. For dessert, the three beignets were fantastic, and the chocolate cream pie was exceptional. However, the lemon sorbet I ordered was overly sweet and drowned in a thick berry compote, and the sorbet itself was like a frozen disk; it took about 20 minutes to thaw enough to eat. I appreciated that they offered a gluten-free, dairy-free dessert, which many places don’t, but I won’t be ordering it again.
I had read the reviews about Ginny's Kitchen and thought it would be a good place to try. We went w/our neighbors with whom we have often gone out to dinner. Also looked at the menu before making the reservation. The location is convenient, however, the noise level is really loud, and I agree w/the review that the lighting is too bright. Our server and the busboy were both friendly and efficient. The restaurant was busy upon on arrival, but our table was ready for us and we were seated right away. There was only one bartender and it took a long time to get our drinks, which were not complicated...unfortunately the food was not that great.. shrimp and grits were flavorful, but soupy...Mac and cheese was only average, beet salad was not appropriate for splitting... we had asked if it was and were told ‘ yes'.... The beets came in very thin slices and when the salad is split you get 2 thin slices... in my view, that is not a salad that should be split. We would have each ordered our own rather than have what we got.. also there was no dressing on it, so had to ask for dressing! The desserts were the highlight... berry cobbler and beignets ... both very delicious! I think this restaurant needs to get their act together... at present, they do not seem to be able to properly handle the business they are getting by word of mouth. That business will quickly end if they don't fix the these easy problems... I am rooting for them, will give them a try for lunch, but if still shaky, that will be our last visit.
This is a perfect local restaurant to enjoy good food, good service and friendly customers. Not over priced and the portions are generous and the menu is interesting. We shared the beet salad, delicious, and I had the Salmon and my husband had the boar meatloaf, he loved it. Will be going again many times.
