We had the fried pickles (long thin slices, not the standard coins), and Aussie fries (large thick potato boats loaded with all the toppings) to start with, and then clam chowder (phenomenal), grown-up grilled cheese, Barn on fire burger, BBQ Chicken, and hot chicken sandwich. Portions were generous and flavors were expertly paired. They also offered slices of pie from the Julian pie company (located right next door)for dessert. We enjoyed the caramel apple, Dutch apple, and mountain berry, all served warm, and topped with ice cream on request.A trip to Farmhouse 78 is worth the drive if your in the San Diego area. We dove over an hour to come here and it was totally worth the time.
Farmhouse is a must stop for food when in Julian. We love coming here everyone is so nice and welcoming. And the food is delicious! Get the hash browns you won’t regret it
Great atmosphere. VERY irritated that a KIDS cheeseburger is $18. Food was bangin. They do a military discount. Adult food is absolutely reasonably priced. But don’t say you have a kids menu when the prices are the same for an adult burger. Our friends asked for their beer three times and didn’t receive it until we were pretty much out of the door. We asked for boxes twice and upon the third time waitress acknowledged that they hadn’t been brought out. It appeared she was over booked with tables. She seemed to have to waitress half the restaurant by herself. Never came to ask how things were going. At any point.
Very good farm house style food for all of the American favorites. Nice comfortable family dinning place. Can get busy and have long waits on the weekends.
Got here about 1:30pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was super busy and we were put on a waitlist. Only took about 20 min to get called. The restaurant is pretty big and beautiful. The chairs are super heavy but very comfortable (The chairs are approved by this bigger figured gal . They do have outside/patio seating. The server was so nice and when we request extra items (ketchup, ranch, etc it was brought to us right away. There was a little bit of a long wait for the food, but very much worth it. The food was fresh, hot and delish! Everything we had was so good. Fried pickles, not greasy and super chruncy, you can tell the make thier own ranch and also yummy! I had the bbq sandwhich with brisket which was melt in your mouth good. Will for sure be back to try more. The bathrooms (they have one handicap stall and one regular stall are spacious enough and were very clean. I did see a handicap ramp in the front but it had a step leading up to it. I did not go around the building so I don't know if there is another easier handicap access to enter. The parking lot is a little cramped (shared lot with busniess' , especially if you drive a bigger vehicle. But there was plenty of extra parking behind the Julian Pie Company in a dirt lot. I did also see eletric var charger options available.
