Sushi Maru Japanese - Red Deer

Firstly, the hours are quite inconvenient; it’s rarely open during standard meal times. I went there for a date and unfortunately experienced terrible service. The waitress was friendly but seemed quite unmotivated. On the bright side, the food was excellent and reasonably priced, and the restaurant has a lovely decor. I recommend visiting for the food, but don’t expect too much from the overall experience!

The food was disappointing and has definitely declined since my last visit. The service was inadequate, with poor timing; some people at our table didn’t receive their meals until others were nearly finished. The servers were not attentive to our needs. The Oyakidon was mushy and bland, and it arrived late. The sushi and tempura were decent, but overall, I was left feeling disappointed.

The service is exceptional, and the salmon and tuna sashimi are absolutely delicious, practically melting in your mouth. While there are no free soda refills, the amazing quality of the food at such an affordable price makes it a minor issue.

Sushi Maru has always been a great Japanese meal for a reasonable price. I LOVE the Seafood Yakisoba ! Don't look at the carpet( 0-stars /5) on the floor and you'll be o.k. Just my 2 bits !

Reaaaally good sushi! I was surprised Lacombe had a sushi place of this quality. Everything is fresh and delicious. The salamander roll is amazing! I also had the dynamite roll, which was giant (like how they do in down town Vancouver... I find dynamite rolls are different everywhere you go), salmon nigiri came with large pieces, the seaweed salad was fresh and light (not goopy), and the edamame was good. I've gone twice, with 4 different friens, and we've all enjoyed it! Take out or dine in, the service was great!
