Smitty's - Nanaimo

Food is average, service is decent but find it pricey for what you get. The restaurant is pretty dated but the kids might like the huge fish tank in the middle of the restaurant.

If you are looking for casual dinning Smitty's is pretty good. The service was friendly, although a bit slow. We both had the spinach and Swiss chicken dinner although I opted for the smaller portion and had the sweet potato fries instead of the potato or rice. It was good. The chicken was moist the vegetables good and the sweet potato fries exactly the way I like them. They kept the coffee coming and we had a delightful meal. We will be back.

The food was hot, large portions but mediocre. Ordered an omelette that was flavorless and used cheap horrible cheese. It is a good place to take children. The kids liked their pancakes. The service was not very attentive, a little slow and not very accommodating. The whole experience is summed up by the title: everything was ok but not something I want to repeat.

We entered the restaurant and all the tables were cluttered with dirty dishes, so we had to wait until a table was cleared. We were served coffee and it all started out fine. Then the menu came and the price for bacon and eggs, $11.99 really? bUT we bit the bullet and decided since we don't do this often we would spoil ourselves. The food finally came, COLD it was!! No waitress and we had waited quite awhile to get this. No more coffee served, finally she comes and says how is it? We said cold, even the pancakes were served with ice cold syrup and freezing butter. The service was horrible, as she then offers to get another order. I do not want to sit and waste my time for more cold food so we said no. The bill she had no problem giving us which came to a total of $28.85, she couldn't even offer a free cup of coffee for our inconvenience. She was very short and had lots of attitude so I told her so and of course she didn't like that either. I figure for the price they charged for cold food I could of gone to the store and got enough food for 10 people and served it hot from the stove in my own house. I will never set foot there again and I will let lots of people hear about my experience to the Smittys at the Southgate Mall in Nanaimo. Thirty bucks for a morning meal??????? NO TIP THERE!!!!!

Smitty's was way better 3 years ago! I went there last month and the service stunk, and the pancakes I ordered were raw! When I sent them back then the burned them???? I wouldn't recommend going there:(
