We were really looking forward to trying Homestead. Upon entering, we found the live music to be very loud and not particularly enjoyable. Next, we ordered the poutine starter, which turned out to be quite disappointing. There were barely any fries, and while the gravy was flavorful, at $13, it felt unacceptable to only receive a handful of fries topped with so much gravy. When we mentioned our concern to the waitress, she said she would inform the manager, but we never received any follow-up. After that letdown, I tried the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Unfortunately, it lacked any heat or flavor, and the chicken was no larger than a chicken tender. It was disheartening to only get a few bites of chicken in half of the sandwich. Overall, we won't be returning.
I've been on the hunt throughout the Treasure Valley for a restaurant that serves the Kentucky Hot Brown, a beloved favorite from the East Coast. I was pleasantly surprised to find it on Homestead's menu, and I can confidently say it did not disappoint! Hats off to Homestead for bringing a taste of the West Coast! If you haven't tried this sandwich yet, you absolutely must! Each bite is a delightful explosion of flavor that melts in your mouth.
This used to be one of my favorite sports bars in the area, but it has gone through some significant changes recently. One of the biggest disappointments is that I can no longer bring my dogs to their enclosed patio, which was a major reason I would drive 25 minutes just to visit. They've also revamped their menu, and it's not just a minor price increase; they’ve hiked the prices dramatically. It's such a turn-off that it has made me reconsider my regular visits. The food is still delicious, and the drinks are great, but I can't justify spending $20 on a French dip at a sports bar. For now, I think I’ll stick to Rudy's, The Curb, and Hideaway, where I can get similar food at much more reasonable prices.
We ordered fish tacos and steak fingers, and they were fantastic! I haven't had steak fingers in years. The place was a bit crowded, and the open wall made it a little warm, but the service was excellent. We definitely plan to return because I'm eager to try the chicken-fried steak breakfast!
