Very good food with a very reasonable price. Considering its location?I think the price is cheap. 5 big pieces of fried steak only $17. And its delicious. The staff was very friendly and the environment is clean and cozy. Definitely recommend everyone who is visiting Grand Canyon.
However, the food was a huge letdown. The chicken was just average, and the sides were mostly inedible. The corn, which I was told was the best side option, was overcooked to the point of being brown. The cookies were dense, dry, flavorless, and had a chalky texture. Even the mac and cheese, which they boasted had a new and improved recipe, tasted like paste. The potatoes were decent but unevenly cooked, and the presentation was lackluster. This place is not inexpensive, yet the reviews (4.2 from March 2019) seem misleading. I suggest checking out Plaza Bonita Mexican restaurant down the street, which my family and I enjoyed the night after our visit to Chicken Kitchen. This restaurant does not deserve your hard-earned money, and I hope they make some significant improvements soon. Otherwise, I'm left wondering if they even care.
This review reflects the opinions of my three children, aged 15, 14, and 9, who are fans of fried food. As my 14-year-old put it, "there's just something off about this place." I want to highlight that the waiting staff were very friendly and there were plenty of them! However, the chicken fingers were quite average. I'm not convinced by their claim that everything is made from scratch—I've seen more authentic mac and cheese than what they served, which clearly looked like a generic brand. And a restaurant that uses ketchup packets? Seriously?
I ordered burgers, half a chicken, and grilled cheese for the kids. Everything was fantastic! We also had very fresh fruit, a delicious twist on classic coleslaw, and some incredibly tasty mac and cheese as sides—everything was served in generous portions. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better. I highly recommend this place!
