This was my first time in Glencoe to watch a show at Writer's Theater, and I stopped by this place for a meal before the show. It seems to be the only Chinese restaurant in the entire town and also one of the few places both open at night and relatively affordable. My friend and I ordered the Walnut Shrimp Special and Sauteed Green Beans. We were told it would take 30 minutes, so we sat inside to wait, and the food came out right on time and piping hot. You can't dine in the restaurant though, as they don't have a dining license. 9 times out of 10, Chinese takeout will always hit for me, and Shanghai Garden was no exception. The green beans were flavorful and well sauteed. The walnut shrimp had a nice crispy texture, tangy taste, and also came with broccoli and crispy noodle pieces. The portions are large for the price and they also included a large box of rice with our order. For just $15 per person, we had a good amount of leftovers. Overall great value, tasty food, generous portions, friendly service I would love to return if I'm in the area again! The food was delicious. It was just not clear about their menu; there were none at the restaurant so there were discrepancies between what I saw online and what I was told I could order. While waiting 12 year olds came in and out with ice cream bars and I couldn't see where they got them from. Glencoe is bizarre.
Really friendly and welcoming. Recommend it for anyone! They make their food fresh!
Really delicious food, the veggies all tasted very fresh and the flavors were authentic and tasty.
