My niece, nephew and I were looking for a place to grab a bite and this was convenient to our needs. (I had no idea there was a Houlihan's in this area, which made it even better. This place never disappoints. Cozy atmosphere, great service and even better food. The perfect spot for date nights, lunch with friends, happy hour with coworkers or a solo mission.
The last time we got carryout here was about a year ago. We thought we'd give it another try, but we were disappointed. Maybe this is one of those restaurants where you have to eat inside to get a decent meal? We've eaten inside plenty of times have the food as been decent. I don't know what's up with carryout. Roasted Tomato Bisque (with grilled cheese fritters inside : Probably my favorite thing on the menu. I love the grilled cheese fritters. Fish and Chips (beer battered north Atlantic cod, dill caper sauce, malt vinegar, chipotle slaw with fries: My dad thought the fish was good. They put the fish on top of the coleslaw, which made the underside soggy. Perhaps they could put the coleslaw in a separate container? The fish was pretty big. He loved the fries. Crispy Chicken Tenders with french fries and broccoli: I asked for traditional but I don't think I got it because the chicken had a kick to it. The chicken had dark spots (or some kind of spices? throughout. The tenders were dry as a bone. I didn't get any dipping sauces with my meal. The broccoli was barely warm and barely steamed. The fries were the saving grace of the meal. They are delicious. Chicken Tenders appetizer with honey mustard and BBQ dipping sauces: Again, we asked for traditional chicken but it had a kick to it. These tenders were also dry as a bone. The skin wasn't as dark as the other order we received. BBQ sauce and honey mustard came with it. Baked Potato Soup (bacon, scallions, cheddar cheese came on the side : Way too thick and bland.
I enjoyed this restaurant. I love that it's right across from the movie theater. So if you decide to go to the movies afterwards you can just walk a very short distance. The shopping center has plenty of parking available. We decided to go here for date night. We went on a Friday evening around 6pm. We were escorted to our seats and the server came over shortly to greet us. Happy hour drink specials were still available till 7pm. My husband draft beer was around $3.00 and l ordered the Chocolate Martini. That was just about the chocolate fix that l needed. It was $1.00 off as well. We decided to go for an appetizer to share. So we had the Calamari. It was good with the spicy sauce on the side. It actually came with two sauces. One mild as well. For the main course l had the Salmon BLT sandwich. It came with fries but l decided to have it with the house salad which was very good. I normally don't like iceberg lettuce but that was a good salad as well as my sandwich. My husband had the Shrimp and sausage Mojo. I tried it and it was good as well. I definitely would be ordering that on our next visit. We had a very satisfying meal and l didn't have room for my desert so l can't comment on that. I loved the variety in the menu and we definitely plan on returning.
I have to say I was worried. All these reviews about how awful the place was. I myself haven't been there in years, not because of bad service, but there is just so much in this area I simply forgot about eating there. Well it was a Saturday and I'm here to say I SHOULD'VE BEEN EATING THERE ALL ALONG! Did I say it was a Saturday? We were smart enough to get a reservation because there was 6 of us and it was busy. The wait for our table was short and we got seated pretty quick. Last year, for my father in laws birthday we made the mistake of trying Olive Garden in Bowie and we were there an hour waiting! Our server QUENTIN was great!!. Very professional, very personable. I honestly didn't think that was possible anymore. And I know this, having worked in and been around retail. He had drink and food suggestions. My husband and his dad had the Sam Adams Octoberfest beer and they both really enjoyed it. He was fast with our order and when my husbands order was late, his meal was complimentary! The food arrived hot. The stuffed chicken I had was good and nicely stuffed (I guess people have complained in the past that it hasn't been). My husbands fish and chips were crispy. My mom in law loved her pot roast. And my father in law enjoyed his ribs. It was a really good meal! My in-laws are regulars and they really enjoy this place. I'm happy we were taken care of.
