The collard greens were tasty, but I didn't really pick up on any ham hock flavor. The cornbread was quite good as well. However, the beans were a bit bland for my taste. I would definitely return for more of the meat!
The brisket here is outstanding! It's tender, juicy, and flavorful—even better than many BBQ spots in Texas that I've tried. I highly recommend ordering about one-third to half a pound per person. While it's not the cheapest option, it's absolutely worth it.
We bought the brisket (lean cut), hot link, page of the Mac n cheese and one side of their potato salad. OMG the Brisket was soooo delicate, no need for a knife. The link is homemade and delicious! We tried all sauces and I was skeptical about the white sauce and that was amazing. A little expensive, but worth it. We're definitely going back.
The prices are reasonable, and every penny is well spent. This is some of the best grilled meat I've had in the bay area – it’s so tender, it practically melts in your mouth. Pair it with the hot BBQ sauce for a perfect flavor combination; it's definitely worth every cent. The mac and cheese is tasty, but for the best side dishes, I recommend the cornbread and the potato salad. You might think about trying the brisket as well, but be sure to get at least half a pound because it’s that delicious that you’ll want more.
The ribs were tasty. I went for the spicy and mild sauces, but they offer a variety, including an Alabama white sauce (best paired with chicken). The mac cheese was extra creamy and good. My friend also enjoyed the collard greens, which had a nice dose of sugar and vinegar to cut the bitter bite of the collards. My only issue with this place is that they say they are open until 9 pm, but on quite a few occasions, they have run out of most everything by 7 pm.
