MR. PESEN's Turkish Cuisine - Cold Lake

When the owner is very kind, polite and courteous, it's hard to write a less than positive review. Because I always like reading reviews that are as truthful as possible, I have to be honest.Mr. Pesen's is located in a mall and operates under mall hours. They serve the usual Turkish/Mediterranean dishes, like Donairs and Shawarma, along with some typical fast food sides. I tried the Beef Shawarma Plate. It consisted of nothing more than Donair meat on bland rice. There was some roasted potatoes and your choice of lettuce, tomato, onions, pickled turnips and pickles on the side. Then you can choose whatever sauce you want on top (garlic, tzatziki, Italian, etc..). I chose tzatziki. The meat had very little flavour, if any.The rice was bland. The tzatziki sauce tasted a bit sweet, which leads me to believe that it doubles as the sweet sauce for donairs or Shawarma wraps.The only thing that had decent flavour, was the pickled turnips. Having dined on Turkish food quite a few times before, I found my meal here to be a cheap facsimile. It didn't taste authentic at all. They could have also put more meat on the plate. The meal was quite pricy, for what you get. If you have had Turkish food before, you will be disappointed. I perhaps should have tried the Chicken Shawarma or a Chicken Shawarma Wrap. A few people commented that it was quite good. It may have been equally as bland as the Beef Shawarma, but it could have been a better choice. The service was very friendly and warm.

I always come here when I am hankering for a little taste of the Middle East. The Chicken Shwarma and Stuffed Meatballs are a favourite. The service here is so good, often serving you tea or little extras at your table if you eat in. The owner often takes the time to get to know his customers and remembers their regular orders. It makes you feel valued and keeps you wanting to come back.

Best place in cold lake to eat chicken shawarma. Not to forget their service is one of the best I have ever experienced so far in Cold Lake.

This place is wonderful! Delicious falafel! Authentic flavours! Super clean with excellent service. I have literally bought a dozen of the falafel and eaten them as snacks! Also if you like rice pudding this is the place to have it! Heavenly delicious just like Grandma used to make! If you are looking for something interesting to have for lunch or dinner this is the place! Very very good.

If you have ever been to Turkey then you will appreciate Mr. Pesen's. His cuisine is very typical Turkish and for myself I particularly like his rice pudding but the rest of the menu is also very good. He is located in the TriCity Mall and you can eat there or takeout. It is unfortunate that he does not have his own restaurant, I am sure it would be a very popular place to dine.
