Cafe Rio Mexican Grill - Boise

Very nice that this place is open past 8pm we needed a place to eat before attending a concert downtown at the knitting factory and we?re successful! The restaurant itself wasn?t super clean there was clutter here and there and there weren?t a lot of customers at the time which was nice, we didn?t have to wait. The SERVICE though on the other hand was sublime. The young man who took our order was extremely kind, patient and helpful. His name is IAN and if I was able to leave feedback to management I would definitely recommend promoting this employee so he sticks around! Customer Service like this is what keeps restaurants competitive and in business. The other employee was nice too that checked us out and took our payment. We ordered a pork burrito which was very good (I consumed it in its entirety, and my partner ordered a quesadilla. The fountain drink area is nice and offered Italian soda flavors which is unique. Thanks again IAN you were wonderful. Cafe rio is a nice alternative to ?fast food? and it is a great calorie to dollar ratio! Best

Cafe Rio is super good I have to admit. However, I feel bad because my experience was less than stellar and not the employees fault. Went for lunch a few days back, and they were so understaffed it took absolutely forever. Multiple people in line just ended up leaving. There was only 1 gal working the entire line and a few people in the back with headphones on doing prep. Poor girl was absolutely being ran ragged. The line was an absolute mess because she was trying to get everything through so fast. I felt terrible for her. The food didn 't quite have that fresh taste I was expecting. I will definitely be back because I know they are good.

I usually really like Cafe Rio and eat at the Franklin location quite a bit. Decided to get a pickup order from this location since it was on my way home. They were out of horchata and the lemonade looked dirty. I should have checked my order but was in a hurry. When I got to work and opened it was the wrong meat and no sauce, not even on the side. The blandest quesedilla ever, I don't even think the chicken was salted and I had ordered barbacoa pork.

Having been a food service worker myself, I hate leaving bad reviews for restaurants, especially Cafe Rio since it?s usually great, but today I feel I have no choice. I?ve been coming to Cafe Rio for years (at least since 2015-2016) and the food is great, but you guys are really starting to skimp out on the portions. When I first started going it was not only cheaper but the burritos would nearly fill the entire platter; it was more than enough food. Now not only have the prices increased (which is understandable), the deals have gotten worse, and the portions are way smaller. Today my burrito filled not even half the platter, which is extremely disappointing considering it cost nearly $13 which is more than most fast food burritos cost; I?ve gotten bigger burritos for maybe $7-8. Please do better next time as I don?t like to give my money to places that don?t give me my money?s worth.

For fast Mexican food its pretty tasty. I like the taco Tuesday special. Sometimes though it can be hit and miss. When it is good it is real good. Sometimes I've been unhappy with the service. Tortilla's are homemade and winners.
