フィードバックを提供するWe parked on West Street a few weeks ago on a Saturday 10:50 a.m. by Stewman’s Restaurant. I paid for 2 hours by credit card on the parking meter $4) and when we same back a little over an hour later the meter was expired. I confirmed this charge on my latest credit card statement.
Wonderful port town to visit. Did not stay overnight as I came trough on a RCCL ship. Tendering to a part of the city that was easy to walk around. There are so many very cute shops. Everything from blueberry pie to go to tourist shirts and caps. Found our way to the Village Green and hopped on the Island Explorer to go into Acadia Natl. Park. Free shuttle and not too long of a wait in line to get on. The lady, Nancy was great at giving information on where each shuttle goes and how to get back to where we started. Acadia National Park was beautiful. From Sand Beach to riding past the cliffs and waterways to the Carriage Bridges we passed under. Many people on bikes, too many cars and lots of tourists. Got back into town and found a nice restaurant to get some lunch. Lobster roll was as fresh as could be. The people in the town were super nice. I would love to come back and visit again.
The town of Bar Harbor is located on Mount Desert Island and has a population somewhere north of 5000 residents (5,235 according to the most recent census in 2010). The actual number of people in Bar Harbor can swell exponentially with an influx of tourists especially during the summer months. The town is very picturesque with incredible ocean and mountain views. The majority of Acadia National Park is in Bar Harbor and draws many tourists every year. The downtown area is filled with many types of quaint shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. I don't exactly know how one reviews a town so this review is going to be short. The most challenging thing about visiting busy areas of Bar Harbor is the parking. There aren't a lot of public parking lots so you mainly have to rely on street parking which can be challenging. In many areas parking is limited to two or three hours so you need to plan accordingly. There is, however, one thing I really love about parking in Bar Harbor. IT'S FREE! When we visited earlier this month I was amazed to discover that parking was free everywhere. I didn't notice one single place that charged for parking which I thought was really cool. I highly recommend visiting Bar Harbor, especially all the wonders and splendor of Acadia National Park. The area is filled with natural beauty, the people are friendly and the seafood is beyond amazing. Make sure to eat plenty of delicious Maine lobster, lobster, lobster! Dilly Dilly.
The BH city offices are super fast efficient. I registered a car in 5 minutes; registered in 2 minutes.
The city bar harbor is a pretty looking small town on itself, but tourist like me flock to it and ramp it up, which in turn makes it a tourist city. on own faust it has a great view of the harbour and includes a beautiful walk next to it and benches to see the boats by. many shopping opportunities, restaurants and bars to keep them busy for several nights when they decide to spend time here. bar harbor is really more or less surrounded by acadia national park only it increases the target status. After having spent a few times during the visit a better part of the day in the park, it was great to come directly back to bar harbor to hang, buy and eat. even better that the buses bring them from park to bar harbor so that no need to use their car, although bike back could also be fun. many people we have seen have decided to do so. when they walk outside the city to foot while staying outside the park, they have a beautiful rural view and feel at it. surrounded by trees and water attractions when they are elevated, they treat some beautiful views. if they like nature, they will surely enjoy it. as touristic as bar harbor, I would point out that the restaurants were all surprisingly mediocre. 3 nights my stay here and 3 dinners. only one of them was remarkable. the one was bad and the other was cut. I do not suggest that bar harbor was advertised as a food store, but I was still disappointed. portland had much better eating, drinks also, although drinks here in bar harbor were not all bad. that said when they come to see acadia national park, there is some fun in bar harbor to have.
