The Painted Fish Cafe Beer - BANNER ELK

The selection and quality of food was excellent. Marcie supported us at our dinner. She showed attention to detail and had a very pleasant personality. This is worth 5 stars and we are planning to return to Banner Elk for the next time.

Great food. Charming, clean interior. Easy parking. Enjoyed chatting with the bar keeper and a local. We were in no rush. They were quite busy. Make reservations before going. Strawberry bread pudding was grand. My husband enjoyed his steak. Pork Belly appetizer was great. I also liked the escargot. Food was fresh and they try to incorporate local produce.

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. I'd rate it an 8 out of 10. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable, and the food was well-prepared. The eclectic menu was an added bonus. The beer was served cold, and the old-fashioned cocktail was quite good. I highly recommend the pot cake and the pig's belly appetizer. The mac and cheese was also tasty. Our server was friendly and charming.

The food is delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly. I just wish they could hire more employees to increase their availability. We tried to go back for brunch the next day (Sunday), but unfortunately, we were informed that they no longer serve brunch due to staffing shortages. They do an outstanding job with the food, and I hope they can find more staff soon! For appetizers, we had the tuna soup and curry chicken with tomatoes, and for the main dish, we ordered the black salmon.

The food is fantastic, the staff is friendly, and the location is ideal if you're staying near Sugar Mountain. The menu offers a unique selection with plenty of options. You have to try the pork belly curry!
