フィードバックを提供するFirst things first, when we arrived no one asked us if we wanted to be seated at the Sushi Bar or the table side steak house dinner service. We aren 't from Augusta and I was dropping my son off at Ft. Eisenhower for 20 weeks of training. So we waited for a a while to be seated. We were the last table of the night. My new soldier and I were lead to a table service steak whatever show ! All my son wanted was some sushi and Japanese rice. My husband is Japanese, our children are half. If my husband hadn 't been CREMATED when he died last year, he would have turned in his grave. NOTHING ABOUT FOOD BEING TOSSED IN THE AIR AND BEING COVERED IN SOMETHING CALL YUM YUM SAUCE IS JAPANESE !!!!! Don 't try to tell me that Benihana is originally a Japanese company to try and win the argument. This is food pretending to be Asian food prepared for Americans who don 't know better. Culturally offense. Tempura appetizer was okay. Can 't speak to the sushi .... Never got to try it. Not everyone wants Yum Yum Sauce ...... Thank you for listening to my rant.
The food and service were excellent, as always. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. However, we were disappointed with the menu. It seems that they no longer offer the Early Bird option and we couldn't find a recent menu online to confirm this before we arrived at 5:30 pm. There are much cheaper options available in Augusta, so we may try a different spot next time we are in the mood for Hibachi.
I made reservations online for my wife's birthday on their website, only to be informed upon arrival that they do not accept online reservations and had asked Google to remove the listing. The manager was unhelpful and impolite, claiming there was nothing he could do about the situation. I was displeased with the experience and will not be spending any more money at this restaurant. It appears that their website still advertises reservations, which is misleading.
I have visited this restaurant many times and noticed some changes. The prices for hibachi dinners have gone up significantly, about $5 more per plate. This is understandable considering the current inflation. The food was good - I had steak, shrimp, and the usual large portion of rice. However, the hibachi show seemed to be limited that night compared to previous visits. It felt like they were trying to rush us out quickly. The ambiance was noisy due to the large crowds. I recommend making a reservation for parties of two or more. Overall, the restaurant was okay but not as impressive as usual. Will I return? Probably.
Always a pleasure visiting Miyabi Kyoto. The chefs are fun and engaging, the food is delicious, and the wait staff attentive. The only bad thing is the condition of the restrooms; always a disaster, so go before you get there.
