Woodcroft Tavern

We booked for a party of 18 people and when we arrived they sat us in the outdoor/indoor are which is really like a covered verandah. They had three heaters plugged in but it didn't even come close to warming the room. Our guests went to their cars to get rugs!! to put over them. I spoke to the very lovely restaurant manager and he apologised profusely stating that the main dining room is only open on a Fri and Sat night and for functions. So we all sat there shivering watching others on the inside warm up by the fire!! Never again! What this policy says to me is that we really want your money but you'll have to be content with sitting outside. It also infuriates me that this was not communicated to us when we booked. This is a real shame because I come from a large family and we are always looking for somewhere to have our birthdays and we all live locally. We were all excited about going to the Woodcroft because of the new renovation etc. Unfortunately for the Woodcroft Hotel, they have lost our clientele and everybody else at the table who are big pub diners! Now on the hunt for a new venue.

We first came here shortly after we moved to the area and had a thoroughly awful meal. Very recently they have undergone a complete makeover of the hotel, including the restaurant, so we thought we'd give it another try for Lunch today. The staff were very inviting and friendly, the renovations also look great. A revamped menu looked very promising, although someone should tell the chef that poutine uses fresh cheese curd, not shredded cheese, and they are at risk of being assaulted by a grumpy Canadian...... We ordered our meals, I had the 'Tank Beer Braised Beef In Cob' and my partner had the 'Salad Hombre'. The meals came out suspiciously fast. I like quick service but food taking time to prepare/cook is a fact of life. Quite a nice dining area, although a bit unfortunate that renovations are happening right now.  Nevemind this construction will only be a temporary downside. Service was prompt and friendly Food was rather average, some dishes slightly better than others.  Too much grease.  Salad bar had a good selection and was quite fresh.

Dropped in for lunch today with my wife, As the establishment was under re construction not many patrons were to be seen. The service was very quick and we were seated, drinks provided, and orders taken with much efficiency. I was presently surprised at the quality & taste of the food presented for what is basic pub fare. A salad bar was also at hand with a few very fresh dish's, well done! I will give the food a score of 7/10  Service a score of 4/10 due to the fact that  you should never clear a table before everyone has finished, and more so if the person is still eating what you are trying to clear! Further more the staff should know who has attended a table and what questions they have asked of the customers, I personally don't want to hear repetitiveness from a multitude of staff. As to the Alcohol prices I will give them a 4/10 as they were well over priced for what were some very very basic wines.
