フィードバックを提供するI hate to give this place a 3/5 review because people were polite, but if you were compared to other places I was, it is average. I went to lunch and there was no one in the restaurant except a person who spoke with an employee and a second employee mopping in the register. There were three TVs on the wall on mute that showed different sports. There are two entrances to the facility. I've never been there, so I didn't know what to expect. There was a buffet fed on a wall, but clear direction to go or order. There were no labels of what each item was, nor were there prices listed in any place. I stood and waited for a few minutes while the employees were talking and crashing. I thought they weren't in a hurry to help, and I was on my lunch break, pressed for the time. The employee who had jumped finished and then came to help. I didn't think about it, but I think she was wearing gloves. I was greeted, I ordered turkey, corn and green beans (south soul food style). The part of the turkey was huge! It took the whole plate. The meat was well cooked, fell directly from the bone and tasted great. I wish it was hotter. I was really disappointed that all the food was lukewarm temperature, although the bowls were under heat lamps and over a water bath. The green beans were boiled in southern style with hanging coughses, but had a smoky taste that was a bit off for me (I had this style many times before, so I trusted with the way it can taste) The corn was good, but had no taste. There were no napkins, salt, pepper or anything on the tables and I felt uncomfortable to ask the person who made the food for seasoning. It seemed rude, so I didn't ask. Beverages were filled in a large ice-cream cooler (as in a petrol station) water and bottle of soda, as well as tea, lemonade and koolaid (I am not sure how they are served). I saw some really pretty looking cakes of different kinds, but not try them. When I was ready to go, I asked what to do with my tray and was told to leave it at the table. I got a box and bag for to-go elements, but it was just polite. I don't think I'm going to be back, and I hate that because I'm always pro local company in favor of chains, but there are several competitors I'd rather visit.
Honestly the food a couple years back was way more flavorful than it is now. The prices have gone up from 7 to 10 at the least for a meat with 2 sides. The business is slower, so it appears that leftover food is being sold the next day. Dry chicken and porkchops, undercooked rice and cabbage...and the meatloaf was still red in the middle, the Mac n cheese was greasy with barely any cheese in the middle. To add insult to injury Meta persona is not welcoming at all and today she was on the phone almost the entire time while fixing our plates. Whomever she was speaking to offered to call back once she was available and Meta insisted on continuing the conversation. Unprofessional. The renovations are nice, but her sanitation score has gone down to a 90. I will not eat here again.
You have to wait forever and the big girl that works there is extremely rude. The side portions are extremely small not worth the price at all. The prices change all the time. The mac cheese is watery and it's terrible. Taste like all ingredients were cooked separately. If you want real soul food go to Prime Tyme.
This business use to be a place to come and enjoy soul food. With the Wednesdays $5.00 specials. Now they gone up in prices which can be understood. However with the price increase u would at least expect better service. Now they have all kind of inaccurate signs of business hours listed and none seem to be right. On says they're open for breakfast from 7 to 10. Which they're never open. Another says 9 to 8 and on her actual door it says 11 to 3. It is now 11: 35 and no one has opened the doors or answered the phone. This is very bad business. For customers to have to wait or expect service and there is none. As a private owner u have the right to open when ever u please but if u have a time to open u should do just that.
The food is truly amazing, but professionalism in conjunction with great taste keeps the customers coming. Please update your website and phone number as it is an inconvenience for customers to drive to your establishment only for the doors to be closed locked during “open hours”. Thank you
