There was only one other couple in the restaurant also having the tea, so...not much of an atmosphere. We had to wait to go in the restaurant even though we had booked a specific time as one table was being used to sort something for a wedding that was being held later. Service was slow and the afternoon tea was disappointing. You get 3 finger sandwiches which were really small and slightly dry. We had ordered the champagne tea and our waitress only realised when I asked her to check our booking. The scones were not great either. All in all not a place to come for afternoon tea.
Popped to Marwell Hotel for a last minute romantic getaway to visit the zoo and ate breakfast and evening meal at the lounge. Was a quiet Sunday evening and only one waiter was serving with another behind the bar, he was incredibly friendly and welcoming...and went above and beyond to create a great atmosphere, taking photos for us as we were clearly on a romantic break and taking the time to chat and joke just enough and leaving us alone when appropriate. Food was very good quality, exceptional for the prices charges, additional canapes and sorbet courses were included which hadn't been on the menu and helped really create a good evening. The entire building but especially the bar and restaurant areas are very impressive designs Cooked breakfast the next morning was lovely, my partner opted to upgrade to pancakes which she loved, I stuck to and enjoyed a perfectly cooked full english
The choices are limited if they like nuts that they are ready for a tasty bite, without traces of nuts to guarantee no food, had to wait to let sit as they were ready for breakfast.
We had a wonderful evening meal here on Friday night. The restaurant was clean and inviting. Staff were awesome and we felt very well looked after. Food was excellently presented and delicious! The service was very good indeed. The two waitresses were very attentive and...explained our menus and we enjoyed pre-dinner home made breads and pre-dessert tears as well. Really good value for the money. We would definitely eat there again.
Comfortable and quiet, the lounge and bar is a good respite from the bustle and excitement of the Zoo. A wide range of drinks and snacks coupled with polite and competent staff make this an excellent place in which to recover !!
