The Wheatsheaf, Lower Woodford

The food at this restaurant was extremely average. I'm not sure what they did to the sprouts (which I usually love), but they tasted terrible. The portions were surprisingly small and the overall meal was just okay. The service was friendly and surprisingly quick for the time of year. We only come here when no other local options are open, and this visit reminded us why. There are much better dining options within a 5-mile radius. On the plus side, there were many well-behaved dogs at the restaurant, including one giant one.

On Christmas Day 2023, we received a fantastic warm welcome upon arrival and were promptly seated at our table. The service was efficient and friendly, and the food was delicious. Kudos to the entire team for working tirelessly and joyfully to make our Christmas Day memorable. We hope you were able to enjoy time with your loved ones. We look forward to returning in the New Year!

The food at this restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced, and Bev provides very good service. Overall, it's always a great experience dining here. I have been here many times and it has always been consistently good!

The reason for my low score is we’ve booked this place twice weeks in advance for a party of five and our dog ,because we have two people in the party who are disabled one 92 who is and a small timid dog. Both times we’ve asked for a specific table to fit our requirements and both times when we’ve arrived after travelling 40 miles only to find the same table has been given to someone else which really gets my back up especially when the management aren’t prepared to relocate the people at the table due to their **** up! The only thing they were prepared to do is put us all at a small poxy table in the corner only suitable for 4 people not 5 and a dog. Which is a real shame as it’s a central point suitable for us all to meet plus the food is real good along the the atmosphere and service. At the end of day don’t offer to reserve a specific table if you’re not prepared to honour it. We definitely won’t be back again for this reason. Extremely disappointed how this was handled as we’ve been coming here for years 2-3 times a year.

Use this pub often for lunch and evening meals. Always a nice welcome. Always great service no matter how busy they are. Always great service at the table. Thank you Wheatsheaf keep up your great service. Many Thanks. Sharan Baker
