Worst Brunswick stew I 've ever eaten! Worst boiled potatoes! Can 't get gravy on your hamburger steak and they don 't have mashed potatoes! The only thing southern cooking about this place is fried chicken and pork bbq! There was more meat on the leg than on the thigh on my wife 's 1/4 dark plate! Old Country Atmosphere, Friendly Staff, and Great Food. Traditional Eastern NC Vinegar based BBQ (Pig), Juicy and flavorful without an over powering Vinegar taste. Just the right amount. Good Boiled Potatoes in a traditional eastern NC way. Standard white slaw Good and Meaty Brunswick Stew Chicken was moist and Juicy with a good flavor and char. Definitely recommend trying Stephenson's. Vegetarian options: You can get it if you want it. Parking: Pull right in. Get busy during the day and early evening. Wheelchair accessibility: Roll right on in. Gravel parking lot though. I can only echo what everyone else has said. Fantastic North Carolina barbecue from a place that has been here forever. Out of the way but definitely worth the drive. Put it on your hit list if you are a barbecue connoisseur. This was an amazing stop while I visited the state of North Carolina. The chopped pork sandwich was better than I could of imagined. The prices were also very reasonable. Service was fast and the girl working the counter was very friendly. Will definitely try and return here in the future.
