Folklore Coffee Whitefish

The atmosphere, coffee, and service were all excellent. However, I had a concerning experience when I saw a bearded man who appeared to be the cook barely rinse his hands after using the restroom. Although he wore gloves while preparing food for customers, I believe that basic hygiene practices should be upheld at all times. As someone who has worked in the food industry for many years, I find this behavior unacceptable. While I understand that personal choices around vaccination and mask-wearing vary, I always prioritize handwashing. This incident took place on August 5, 2023.

Beyond the warm atmosphere, the drinks were fantastic! I ordered a hot rose hibiscus matcha, and it was perfection. The matcha had a wonderful balance of umami flavor, and it wasn't too sweet or too bitter. The floral hints from the rose and hibiscus harmonized beautifully with the umami, creating a delightful blend with just a touch of sweetness. The barista was amazing and deserves a raise. She was incredibly sweet and handled a customer who came in asking for ice and rambling on about a lot of confusing topics with patience and kindness. Plus, she whipped up some delicious drinks quickly! I highly recommend this place to anyone passing through the area (or anyone who lives here!). I would love to have this exact coffee shop in my own neighborhood.

The pastry and coffee were good, but the wait forced a 3 star review. The shop was backed up, and only one person making coffee resulted in a 20+ minute wait for our 2 drinks. I am sure if fully staffed, it would move quicker.
