Billy Winters - Weymouth and Portland

The staff at this restaurant is friendly and the view is fantastic. However, Billys has suffered from its own popularity. The food is tasty but comes at a high price and with small portion sizes. The service is slow and there are long waits. Unfortunately, even the great view can't make up for these shortcomings.

This charming and unique bar has a fantastic atmosphere, great staff, and a beautiful view. However, the food is a bit overpriced and could use some improvement. The menu is limited, but they do a few things exceptionally well, all at a reasonable price for a beach bar.

Billy Winters in Weymouth has a stylish and enjoyable atmosphere that enhances its appeal. However, the food does not meet expectations. While the dishes are good, they lack the wow factor that would make them memorable. Additionally, the portion sizes do not justify the prices, especially given the large number of tourists who visit. For example, paying £4.50 for a serving of chips should result in a larger portion. In conclusion, Billy Winters provides an average dining experience but could work on offering better value for money.

Visited yesterday for some lunch and ordered over the app, we were sitting outside and the app wouldn’t allow us to order to tables so we left a message on the order to say where we were sat. Drinks arrived promptly without issue. After waiting over an hour for food we asked how much longer it would be. We were told that there has been a lot of orders on the app so the kitchen was running behind. After 90 minutes, half the family (who did the same thing with a message on the app) received their food. We were still left waiting. I queried with the very hard working girl at the bar who did apologise and gave us free drinks, saying the pizzas were just being put in. Another 30 minutes and they still hadn’t arrived. My partner went inside and to find out what was happening to be told that the food went to the wrong table and just gave us a refund. Problem was we had two children who were really hungry after waiting 2 hours for their pizza. My mother in law then went in to ask if we could actually have some foods and after another 15 minutes the pizzas arrived. Fair enough we had one round of free drinks and we were refunded but it was more the issue of being told we weren’t getting the food and had to ask for a second time. In there defence, I believe the app was new and wasn’t working well and it was very busy, but I don’t think the issue was handled very well. Won’t be back Billy Winters.

Visited Billy’s after a Sunday morning stroll across the causeway from Portland. This bright clean restaurant has evolved from a ship container to have a large gazebo joined on. The food is delicious, local fish specialties with a twist … We’ll definitely be returning however I can image it’s packed out during summer months so visit while it’s out of season !
