When we arrived they didn’t have our booking which I made over the phone, no problem we were still seated, they sat us in a window so it was light but we were as far from the buffet as possible! The room is huge and I can imagine that it’s great for a gig! However it was freezing, it was cold outside but it wasn’t much warmer in the main restaurant, the toilets were freezing and there was no hot water. The tables were clean and the food was hot and tasted ok. The window sills were filthy dusty and the whole place felt a bit dank, like someone else said the place has loads of potential but it needs work and investment. It’s good value at £10 per person but I don’t think we will return in a hurry.
We went to a Steampunk Halloween Ball and this venue was perfect for the event! The ticket price included a pie and pea supper, and we were pleasantly surprised to also receive cake. The prices at the bar were reasonable, the food was delicious, and the facilities were clean.
I recently visited the town hall with my family on a Friday for their fish special. It was absolutely fantastic and great value for money! The fish was incredibly fresh and the batter was delicious. The restaurant was very clean, with friendly staff. I would definitely recommend it. We also occasionally go for Sunday lunch and the food is always delicious at a great price. The staff are so welcoming and my children feel right at home. I will definitely be visiting more often as they have amazing offers and a variety of dishes. The picture below shows the baby fish we ordered, which was surprisingly large!
We went for Sunday dinner at this restaurant, where you can get a 3-course meal for £10 and kids eat for £4.95. We booked for 1pm and the starters were okay for the kids, but my husband and I didn't have anything. The kids had garlic bread and a chicken wing, while there was vegetable soup, onion rings, salad, pasta, and corn on the cob. The carvery meats were great with beef, pork, turkey, lamb, ham, and meat pie. However, the variety of vegetables was a letdown as they should stick to the basics and keep them well stocked. The Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were delicious, but they ran out of mash, disappointing my son. The dessert was underwhelming, with my eldest lucky enough to get the last bit of chocolate cake while my youngest and I went without. The restaurant was also running out of pudding choices, leaving us and others without. Overall, the main was good but I suggest going early for a full 3-course meal. Keep the menu simple and ensure fresh dishes are brought out regularly. Good value for 2 courses at £10 and for kids.
We booked a table for 1 o'clock. On arrival we were shown to our table which wasn't on the main floor. It was dark for some reason there were no lights on in this area. A young lady came and said someone would be coming to take our drinks order. After 10 minutes another lady came and took our order. Another 10 minutes another lady came. Another 10 minutes a third lady came. At 1.30 our drinks arrived. We went to get our food. Not much meat left. There was a very small piece of beef (enough for one person), pork and turkey. I asked if there was any more beef and the lady said no as they were closing at 2pm. The advert did say they were open from 12 noon to 3pm.The veg left wasn't very hot and the gravy had almost run out. We then went for dessert and again very little left. My husband went to pay and again, due to only one person behind the bar, waited about 15 minutes to pay. Would advise if you decide to eat here try and be there about 12.30pm or before. Certainly value for money at £10 for 3 courses but I don't think we will be visiting again.
