I probably would of given it 3 and half stars if possible. Only because I waited in the drive thru for almost 15 minutes. I ordered a footlong sandwich and a dozen donuts. So it seemed a little excessive to be waiting that long. Other than that, no complaints. They do make a good sandwich. I'd choose here over Subway if I was going for a coldcut/toasted sandwich
Belive or Not this place makes Subs. Let me tell you for the price and quality of the sub one of the best. So get to Dixie Give them a try.
Deli sandwiches were very tasty and filling. The Rye wheat breads were delicious fresh! The establishment was clean, and the display cases were visually stunning in their variety arrangements. The staff was polite and efficient. On display were many local pictures as well as old news clippings of Coal Mining events from the area 's past. The menu boards were neatly written colorful. The donuts weren 't overly sweet had a very nice balance between the flavors.Wish I 'd tried the blueberry or strawberry fritters if the deliciously balanced apple fritter was anything to judge them by!I wish the server had corrected me when I mentioned wanting the toasted coconut topped doughnut and had advised it wasn 't topped w/toasted coconut. Not sure what it was, but it was very much enjoyed by my husband.
Dixie Cream is a treat to have in West Frankfort. Great donuts and cakes and it is my go to place for lunch. Their spinach salad is huge, filled with bacon, eggs, cranberries, sliced almonds, etc. and the in-house poppy seed dressing is crazy good. My wife loves the chicken salad on a croissant. They are also very supportive of West Frankfort and will host meet and greet events for local politicians and are across from City Hall.I always find the young staff and the owner to be very friendly. A lot of older residents like to meet and hang out here later in the day so if you need the latest talk of the town drop by for a donut. They have also added a second location in Herrin.
