Maxie's Lounge - West Des Moines

I visited the restaurant on a Friday at 6 PM for dinner and cocktails. Unfortunately, the cocktail server in the bar area wasn't very friendly. I ordered food and enjoyed it in the bar area, and I have to say the food was excellent and served promptly. However, I noticed that the establishment closes at 8 PM, and as closing time approached, they seemed eager to usher us out. Additionally, the place was mostly empty for a Friday evening.

This was my first visit, and I found the food to be delicious! It had a nostalgic vibe, reminiscent of a restaurant bar from the 1980s. The service was excellent as well.

We ordered the Chicken Parmesan sandwich and the steak. Initially, I was keen on trying the Hot Beef with mashed potatoes, but they were out of that dish. However, our waitress highly recommended it for our next visit, mentioning its delicious taste and generous portion. All sandwiches come with their famous onion rings, and though I'm usually not a fan because they're often too salty, I was pleasantly surprised by these – they were just right. The fries were crispy and had a nice shoestring thickness. The Chicken Parmesan sandwich came with house-made sauce and was incredible; it featured the juiciest chicken I've had in a while. The red sauce was excellent, and even my boyfriend agreed. Next time we return, we are definitely going to order pasta (and that Hot Beef with mashed potatoes!). The steak was cooked to medium-rare perfection and had a lovely flavor. Overall, it was a fantastic choice. I highly recommend checking them out!

Lunch here with church family. Our waitress Lindsey was amazing. She not only had our party of 18, she had to other parties of ten. She didn't miss a beat or dish. And had a smile and charm as she worked. Food was very good and everyone enjoyed what theyordered. This group loles to get dessert and Maxie's came through on this too. Restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. Ido what to giving a shout out to the kitchen. They were on top of their game too. With having three group to cook for ...as wellas small groups. Maxie Burger was really good! Fries and onion rings come with the burger as well! Good service!
