My experience of the Giant Eagle in my hometown of Waynesburg, PA is great, and this time was no different. In spite of the supply chain and workforce being disrupted by the pandemic and, in my opinion, majoritively greed and laziness driven reduction in the workforce, I was able to get everything on my list (including five items i couldn 't get at Walmart because of bare shelves). The cashier, whose name I can never remember, greeted me with a friendly salutation and conversation, was very attentive to my requests, and was accurate and efficient in her duties. As Siskel and Ebert would say in their critique of a good movie, I give Giant Eagle and the cashier and Two Thumbs Up!
I bought a couple good buys but they are expensive.
This giant eagle is very small. They have tha basics and honor the sales. I have found SEVERAL expired foods at this location. So much so that I check the dates on every item I pick up at this store. I have also found moldy and visually rotten items on shelves. The only reason I still shop at this location is because the meat prices(when on sale) are very good and they carry a few 1 off items that I can't find other places.
Very outdated Giant Eagle store. Doesn't look like it's been renovated since the 90s, the deli department looks even older. The photo for the Google page is NOT a photo of the actual Store. Apparently this is a franchise or privately owned store that doesn't live up to most modern Giant Eagle standards. Store is pretty dirty for Giant Eagle standards.Self checkouts seem to get shut off depending on staffing, surprisingly they seem to turn them off when they have fewer checkouts open. Haven't shopped at a Giant Eagle in a while, their self checkouts require a club/rewards card, which means waiting in long lines to purchase a single item if you don't have one (unsure if this is how all their stores are, I can't imagine it is).Prices on par or slightly higher than other local grocery stores. Shopped here a couple times this week and realize why I haven't shopped here in 10 years.
