フィードバックを提供するWe planned our day trip to the winery and after reading all the negative reviews about the service I was afraid to eat at this place. I figured we'd just grab some pizza on the way back. So glad I changed my mind and decided to eat at Vinum. The service was perfect and the food was even better. French onion soup, foie gras, frog legs were amazing. And plenty of other options for less adventurous types (kobe beef burger, lamb chops, etc all good). We were a party of 5. Our lovely waitress was from France. And the chef came to chat with us. They could improve their beer selection, but hey, it's a winery, so I understand.
Unfortunately they have closed. 1839 Restaurant took over the space. Nothing more to say but it won't accept this information without writing more.
Beware: this place is SEGREGATED!!!! Yes, you will be surprised how in 2018 it is even possible, but me and my boyfriend experienced it twice last weekend during our visit of the Brotherhood Winery and Vinum Cafe. Upon our arrival to the Brotherhood winery we decided to have lunch first and the only option on their territory was available was Vinum Cafe, so as soon as entered the restaurant chef Christian Pierrel met us and immediately offered us to seat in the patio in the backyard of the restaurant. I was very surprised, because the restaurant was almost empty and only few tables were occupied and it was very well air-conditioned inside which was more comfortable on that hot day. However my boyfriend agreed and I just followed him. Later I have noticed that another African-American couple was also seated in the patio. After having the lunch, which we actually enjoyed and complemented the waiter with tips and chef with the positive words about cooking, we felt quite full and decided to come back for the coffee and the deserts after the wine tour. As we were leaving the restaurant, some caucasien ladies in the main hall of the restaurant stared at us like they 've never seen people before, which left us a very strange and uncomfortable feeling that we had initially about the real reason of placing us at the patio. Couple hours as we had a lot of purchases from the winery and thus I decided to enter first to review the dinner and dessert menu, leaving my boyfriend outside with our purchases bags. The first thing that I heard upon my entrance to the restaurant was Christian Pierrel 's statement You can 't come twice to my place in the same day! I took it as a joke, and asked the bartender first about the coffee, because that 's what my boyfriend really wanted to have first. She told me that they don 't have the take out cups, but if we want to have coffee inside we can have it. Then I asked if they had truffle fries, now Christian Pierrel told me that they had, but they don 't fry after 4 pm, yet if I want Truffle Burger for $25 I can have that. So the waiter/bartender was ready to take this order, but Christian Pierrel stoped her telling her that I 'm not serious about my order on which I confronted saying that I only have to ask my boyfriend if he wants all that and if he is, we will come back together, Christian Pierrel told me that he actually can also serve us the truffle mashed potatoes. Then him and some gentleman in the bar gave me some silly jokes about my requesting truffle fries have you ever been in France? There no French fries there, but in McDonalds on which I just responded that I was in France many times and truffle fries are not the same and they left me alone with their jokes, but I was surprised with their behavior because this yelp page of their restaurant is flushing with the photos of the French fries served in Vinum Cafe. As we came back with my boyfriend, Christian Pierrel 's demeanor changed to the worst possible, now all his previous strange and quite filthy jokes turned into the pure rude racist statement if you want coffee, you should go to Dunkin Donats! We were both in shock!!! My boyfriend just turned his head at me not even understanding what was going on, so Christian Pierrel made sure he confirmed his deny to service him by stating IF you will drive 1 or 1,5 miles you will find a Duncan Donats! Yes, just last week in 2018 in New York State my boyfriend was denied in service only for being black! Myself being mixed and very light skinned, never ever in my life I can even dream about that the white part of my blood can help me to get food after listening to some stupid jokes and be denied in food service completely if I will dare to show up with the black man! Wow! What a shame!!!!!! Being French himself, living in the free foreign country to persecute others based on their skin color!!! This place should be closed just for the sake of protecting New Yorkers of spreading this disgusting, downgrading disease called RACISM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very affordable! Came here before doing the wine tour and tasting. I ordered the steak frites salad and it was an awesome piece of steak, fries and just a bit of salad lol. But honestly I'm not complaining. Service wasn't the greatest but there was a bridal shower going on so maybe that's why.
So I had my rehearsal dinner here. I 'm a firm believer of giving credit where credit is due, and in this case, where it is not. Yelp is an excellent way to do that. The positive the food was good (potato leek soup excellent) although it seems that for the prime rib, he must have cut each piece individually and then cooked them because several of us had well done pieces and others did not. The salmon and the chicken dishes were top notch though and got good reviews. The service The staff was attentive but they were not informed about what was arranged for the party. Example, they were not aware of the vegetarian meals agreed upon. They did the best they could and were friendly. The owner Christian is a good cook but I think he needs a business manager. He was very curt in dealing with us (we went with the venue anyways because we wanted to have the rest of the party in the adjoining winery). He did not respond to our confirmation emails until the day before. And we told him about the 3 children, and he never told us that he doesn 't even have a high chair available! Overall, I just got the impression that we were an annoyance but he (obviously) needed the business. I guess a plus was that the restaurant was empty, we could be as loud as we wanted (much to the relief of the mom 's with the 3 kids).
