フィードバックを提供するWhile the building may be old, it has a rich history; both it and the structure next door are over a century old and were part of the Lincoln Hill Mines. Roland's used to be a tavern and theater, while the adjacent building served as the company store. Like any restaurant, staff come and go, but if you give the place and its team a chance, the food will blow you away! And be sure to visit on prime rib night—it's absolutely incredible!
Don’t visit for the service or atmosphere. The establishment is falling apart, and I’m not sure how it passes inspections, but thankfully it does. The waitstaff is terrible, and the hostess is a joke. We were seated at 7:00 and didn’t get our drinks until 7:45, and that was only because we took matters into our own hands. Make no mistake, this place is a disaster. However, I absolutely loved the food. It was fantastic! I had the end cut prime rib, cooked rare, and everyone else at my table who ordered prime rib felt the same way. Roland even made me a special batch of coconut ice cream, which was divine. If you can overlook the restaurant's shortcomings and focus on Roland’s cooking, this place is definitely a winner.
The food here is fantastic, but the atmosphere leaves something to be desired. In terms of food quality, I would say it's better than other Italian restaurants in the area. However, if you're after a pleasant ambience and nice decor, this isn’t the right spot for you. The service can be a bit slow at times, but the excellence of the food makes it worth it. I recommend dining here only when you have time to relax and enjoy your meal.
I was reading some of the previous reviews and wanted to clear up some facts. First off Roland's had been in its current building which used to be a VFW club, for at least 15 years. They are family run business that focuses on quality and quantity. If you are looking for a quick dinner, this is not the place for you. We go here every other month or so for dinner sometimes just the 2 of us sometimes with a group and every time it is on a Saturday for the prime rib. We always call ahead and ask them to hold us as many as we need. This is the only day they make it and it is second to none in Pittsburgh. First off, the prime rib is enough to last one person 3 meals. It is roughly 3 to 4 inches thick and 5 by 9 inches and is cooked on the bone. It includes a soup or salad a veggie and a side starch for $30.00. Roland, Cheryl, Vincent, and Michael are all great. To really tell you how great this place is. We have been there twice since Feb. Both times at 5 pm and both times they were turning people away that did not have reservations. The back room easily seats 100 people. One of the best kept secrets in Washington, Pittsburgh, and on urbanspoon.
One of the few left. There are few restaurants left that really truly make their own food. This is absolutely my favorite pasta place and I have tried many over my years! Special occasions, we go to Rowlands!! We don't care that it isn't glitzy and formal, the food is what counts! My biggest concern is that everyone will find out and it will be crowded when I want to go! : If you aren't happy with your dinner here, I won't be asking for your opinion on food!! Have a great dinner...
