フィードバックを提供するWe've been coming to Roys for many years. We haven't been able to travel for a few years, but finally back to Waikoloa. We found our latest experience was still a good, despite reading that it had gone downhill. Our server was great, the food was great and we had a great time. Our party of 4 had most fish dishes and the fish was perfectly cooked. The chocolate souffle is one of the best desserts of all time. It seemed that the souffle was smaller than before? But it was still brilliant and I don't need it to be bigger! Prices have certainly risen, but in these days everything is more expensive. Overall, I highly recommend a fine culinary experience.
We?ve been going to various Roy?s locations for the last 10 years, but this was our first time here. The food did not disappoint, as always. The ambiance was fine, although not terribly fancy considering the price tag. Overall we had a lovely dinner here with a large group of folks. Appetizers: We ordered the blackened ahi, wild boar wontons, Szechuan ribs, crab cakes, and Brussels sprouts. Of these, the crab cakes, wontons, and Brussels sprouts were the favorites. The crab cake was thick and flavorful; the wontons had a tasty juxtaposition between the savoriness of the boar and sweetness of the chutney, and the Brussels sprouts were crispy and had a nice charred flavor. The ahi was the most disappointing ? it was fine, but nothing special. Meals: The group ordered several meals, including the misoyaki butterfish (a favorite! , mekajiki, and the mixed grill. The butterfish was flavorful, tender, and utterly delicious. The mekajiki was also nice, albeit a bit heavier and less flavorful than the butterfish. The best thing about the mixed grill was the potato gratin ? otherwise the fish and meat that came with this entree were fine but nothing spectacular. Dessert: The group ordered several chocolate cakes and pineapple cakes. The chocolate cake never disappoints in delivering thick, gooey decadence with zing from the raspberry sauce. The pineapple cake was also delicious, just not my preference. Overall, this restaurant is consistent with the quality of other Roy?s locations and would be a solid place to have a nicer meal!
LUX UNINHIBITED FRIENDLY PERFECT MEDIUM RARE ? Eating at Roy's was unexpected, which was wonderful because it unexpectedness is what creates an exceptional meal. Definitely the best dinner experience on the island. It's no Tommy Bahamas, and to be honest, Tommy Bahamas couldn't compare. We came in playful, excited, and in a tip top mood. The staff could definitely sense our carefree mood. Not only could they sense it, but they nurtured it. They have QR codes on the table, but I did request a paper menu, which I prefer because I like to look at my choices, and think about them, without the added distraction of managing a cell phone. We did NOT order appetizers, although I'm sure they would have been lovely. We went straight for entrees, and cocktails. Everything we ordered was made with personal care. The staff made sure to bring the same energy we arrived with, which was wonderful. That being said, many of the people who served us went to culinary school. They are not just servers, but passionate about food, customer service, and the island. This is a great spot for couples, business meetings, and best friends. I definitely plan to come again. ?
Kaeli'i was a great, laid back, informative server. Well versed in every item on every plate, he really helped with the menu choices. Each item was delicious. Coffee rubbed ribeye, Macadamia crusted swordfish with lobster sauce buerre blanc, and Glazed Butterfish. Tables are socially distanced nicely. Drinks delicious!
Definitely not the Roy's that it used to be. The place looked so run down. The seats had all sorts of cracks and were peeling and so old and uncomfortable. The food has not changed much in 20 years and it wasn't really all that good. The surf and turf had chewy lobster and super bland corn. The ahi was ok but they now only give you overcooked sticky rice, used to be delicious black rice. The molten cake had no molten middle, it was burnt and overcooked. This place used to be amazing. A fresh set of furniture and a revamp to the menu (or maybe better cooks) and it would be better.
