Very varied menu options, and great flexibility to also provide off menu meals and dishes on request. Traditional danish “kro” fare doesn’t get much better anywhere else! Excellent attention to detail, plenty of food, very very nice tasting and provided very professionally in suitable transport boxes when arranged in good time! Order ahead even days before, especially if you’re making a big order. Kaj Kok and his team provided a great meal for 20 of us super starters, classics with just enough twist, super mains “better than mother ever made”. Couldn’t comment on the deserts no space left! Don’t go for nouvelle cuisine and dainty little pretty finger food. This is “kro” at it’s best! And impressive control and management of the takeaway concept and tools.
We came by this place at random, on our way back from Møns Klint. It looked cozy and had the promise of traditional, home made Danish food. I was very happy to see that they have a vegetarian section in their menu. I ordered the vegetable salad with feta and garlic. My husband ordered dansk bøf and together we shared garlic tomato bread. The salad arrived with no feta and no garlic. It had a side sauce that tasted like ketchup mixed with some low fat yoghurt. I think this was the worst salad I have ever tasted it was utterly tasteless and looked like something you feed the animals at a stable. Not to mention it comes at the hefty price of 105 DKK. It's beyond insane that they can charge so much for such a basic salad. I asked what happened to the feta and garlic they brought them separately and gave some excuse for mixing up the order. I regret not asking for my money back because I did not eat it. My husband's meat dish with oven potatoes was ok. The potatoes were not done and had half a kilo of salt on them. I would never eat there again. They saw I had not touched the salad nobody asked why or even offer a refund. If you happen to see this place on you way, just drive further. Plenty of other, more affordable and better places to eat.
The interior is so kitsch that it is amazing. And the menu is straight out of the sixties no New Nordic or French sophistications. People come from far and wide to experience one of the few authentic Danish kitchens left.
