On a trip out of Biloxi, MS on our way to Shreveport, LA we decided to break up the journey by stopping over and spending the night in Vicksburg, MS. Rolled into town early afternoon, checked into our hotel and decided to go downtown. We wanted to go to the 10 South Rooftop Bar Grill, because it was supposedly a nice place with a good view. The bar and grill has an opening time of 4PM. We drove over and took the elevator up at 4:10 PM only to be brushed off by the barmaid saying they were not open and we were asked unceremoniously to leave. Okay, that was strike one. We went back later in the evening. The place had a few people, but most of the tables were empty. We ordered a couple of drinks at the bar and found our way to a table by the windows overlooking the city and the river, which is the reason we went there. One of the wait staff came over and asked if we were eating and we told him we were enjoying our drinks and the view, but were not going to eat. A few minutes later another person came by and asked us the same question, our reply was the same as before. Then she announces to us that we cannot sit at the table unless we order food. We were amazed by that statement as this is a bar and we had purchased drinks and didn't expect to be evicted from our table. We objected, but she insisted we could only sit at the bar. We reluctantly went to the bar only to be treated rudely by the same barmaid that had treated us poorly earlier. She handed out pretzels to everyone at the bar except for us. Strike two. My wife asked her what happened to Southern hospitality and she came back with a rude comment, so we didn't even finish our drinks and left. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that they appreciate their customers.
V’burg looks to have been stripped of a lot of good spots in favor of the near by casinos. This is an exception. Great rooftop views. Great food menu choices. Nice atmosphere and folks. UNBEARABLY HOT HOWEVER.
Had a lovely dinner. Food was good. Music was nice. Loved the view, we saw a beautiful sunset. The wines and spareribs were really nice but the pizza wasn't that great
The food is amazing. The view as well. But stay vigilant. While the food on the menu is in a $20–$30 price range, the daily special had a (hidden) price tag of $62! And they charged me $14 extra because I changed the sauce on my main course. There's a fine line between clever marketing and outright criminal behaviour.
This roof-top establishment is located in the tallest building in historic downtown. Much of the city, including 10 South, is on top of a high bluff overlooking both the Yazoo and Mississippi Rivers. The views were great and the food simple but good. Casual dining great for families.
