La Regie - Verteuil-sur-Charente

This beautiful wine shop and wine bar is beautifully renovated, full of atmosphere and fabulous choice of wines. Very friendly lady served us, the choice was amazing. A must go when in the area!

Let me start by introducing you to Vertuile sur Charente, the crown of the Charente . A stunning riverside village with its fairytale Château and six venues for food and drink. But the jewel in the crown is La Regie, once part of the medieval Château, now a destination venue its a Cave Wine bar , run by caviste Sebastien Feuillade. With a truly remarkable wine and spirits selection, this place is awesome. Sebastien has spent years sympathetically restoring the building and it is truly like stepping back in time. But the icing on the cake is a bar with beers on tap , a log fire to enjoy in the winter months , sipping quality wines , and champagnes. With his in depth knowledge of wines , you will sure to be enthralled by what he has to offer whatever your budget. But my favorite is ... a plateau of huge fresh oysters every Saturday served with gorgeous bread from the local Boulangerie and a glass of bubbly. Not to be missed if you are passing by or staying in the region.

Wonderful place to sit and sip a glass of wine by an open fire... magical medieval atmosphere, great wine.

Its great to see a huge amount of new wines here. I also love the fact this cave now sells some fine spirits as well. Bought a great bottle of Scotch which has been most enjoyable.

Magical place with exceptional products! of quality at the reception of the base everything is perfect! Verteuil has a great chance to own such a place in the village.
