I was about months ago in kitsilano on broadway at olympia pizza and it was very good, but on the last Saturday it was a great disappointment. I know covid has hit restaurants hard so I'm not happy to write a bad review, but. covid has also hit the consumer hard to go to dinner is a real tasty bite and we expect good food and service. that was not the case on Saturday. Our first problem we encountered was that my friend took a drink of water and ended with a mouthful of lipstick from a dirty glass yuck! my evening dinner of keftedes was comparable to hockey picks with cold dried rice and potatoes, my partner ordered the prawn souvlaki and it was quite the same cold and dry, my friend ordered Greek salad, which was agreed decent, but she also ordered the dolmades swimming in a cold salt maize starch bath, unedible. the saganaki was placed on a very hot bratpfanne, but the cheese was not sizzling and was warm the last dinner he had to wait for after we all received our dinners was beef souvlaki cold and dried. we would have sent everything back, but we waited so long to get our dinners and put them in the microwave is not my idea of a good restaurant quality dinner, our group of four will not go back. I know that they were in the neighbourhood for a very long time, but the night was not worth our time or our money, there is no excuse as the restaurant seating opportunity was cut back much better service and eating should have been,
With the closure of Gigi’s in juni this year, I was looking for a good local pizza link. when I searched the information superhighway in the summer, appeared for olympia pizza magical. their propaganda photos looked most tantalizing and appealing, so...I saw their official website and was rolled up further. when surfing the website I learned something about this pizza place: it was founded by the kerasiotis brothers and specializes in pizza Greek farewell. the pizzas, they said, have been made proud for years. many have attacked me because it reminded me in a certain sense of the recently abandoned gigis – at least on paper. they have been for years longer than Gigi’s they are specialized in pizzas; and, both were described as "a vancouver institution" by renowned publications. hook, line and sinker – pookycake wanted to order from olympia pizza and maybe . . . . . . . enjoy a good local pizza cane. I finally came by to order from olympia pizza before over a week – some months after the propaganda advertising appeared first. I was excited because I had guaranteed a good meal in my head. Finally, most Google reviews are positiw, ditto for tripadvisor. the zomato and Yelp evaluations seem somewhat more divided in the middle. “No question,” I thought, “because this place has been there for more than fifty years and you don’t last so long in vancouver when you’re mediocre.” So I ordered a Caesar salad, baked ravioli, bbq ribs and a small Olympic pizza for delivery. I was told minutes to an hour,” which is quite normal. at the brand I made myself in the anticipation of the arriving delivery car into the hotel lobby. I waited and waited and waited more. they can only have the hands on a watch that moves with the transit time. when I felt that I was more than patient enough, I decided to follow my order with the hour and fifty minutes. when I called, I explained that I had an order for the delivery almost hours earlier and wondered what his status was. I was taken in for about minutes and then someone else came on the phone and I had to re-explain the scene. I was arrested again – albeit very short – before I said: “It’s on the way.” yay! the order finally arrived about minutes later. ok, it took hours to eat. I am always ready to forgive slow delivery when eating is good; unfortunately I was let down. the Caesar salad, far from containing “herbald Romaine Latetuce” as described on the menu, was soggy and cheap – business bought croutons galore. the ravioli looked very inconspicuous, was bland, but at least came pissing hot (the meaning of it will become clear at a moment). the bbq ribs were warm, lacking in the presentation, but were good tasteful. the pizza, which is olympias obvious speciality, was perhaps the greatest disappointment of all. first it was barely warm. second, it was soggy. Finally, it looked like the different beats were thrown into a hurry. vancouver foodster can have written positiw about the “delicious” pizzas, but this is certainly not the case in can they say disappointment in a pizza box? I can't help but think that our order has been lost in the sleep. How else can you explain hot pasta, hot ribs and cold pizza? food: service: recommended: I came here to find a suitable substitute for gigis, but remained that I would be ordered from a large pizza chain. whether or not I had ordered on the “Off Day” is irrelevant because I will probably not be back. ps: if you found this review helpful in any way, please note to meet the helpful button!
