Ix Cat Ik - Valladolid

I was glad to find this place in valladolid. the ambiente is great and also the service. eating is good, but I didn't find it amazing. but overall one must follow my mind.

What a treat this spot is. Went there last night for dinner for some straight up Mayan deliciousness with Vegan options. Omg. More of this. They grow their own Chaya and herbs. #Veganuary

I gave the food five stars, as everything was delicious. Vegan options are clearly marked, and some vegetarian options can be made vegan easily. The waitress was very knowledgeable about vegan options. Authentic Mexican, pre-Hispanic food. The house appetizer was amazing and they even have a vegan habanero sauce upon request. The chaya empanada (minus cheese) is a must try. They had four vegan/vegan option appetizers and two main dishes. Would definitely recommend.

Whilst the fact that they are making some small effort to be vegan friendly is appreciated, unfortunately my partner’s vegan empanada came with a slice of dairy cheese on top which put a dampener on the evening. The atmosphere was very friendly and it’s clearly a family business, and there were two vegan mains on offer. The tortillas were excellent although I would have been happy with a bit more flavour in my food generally. We did have some excellent wine though and enjoyed the tour of the garden and tortilla hut.

Great authentic mayan restaurant in a beautiful town. The layout is very open, so even if you choose to sit inside you still feel like you are out on a terrace. They grow their own herbs and other ingredients. While we were there, our server gave us a little tour of the garden and the hut that the tortillas are made in in the traditional style. Those tortillas were amazing! I could have just eaten those and been happy. I also had some chips and a tomato& squash seed dip, chaya soup, and a gordita with rice beans. All were delicious! They have vegan options marked on the online menu, so it's best to look at that before going. The in house menu only marks vegetarian options, so you have to ask which ones are specifically vegan. The staff is super friendly and accommodating.
