Kea - Valencia

This is a great restaurant in the heart of Russafa, serving good simple food and very, very reasonable. You get 6 tapas starters, a main course choice and a selection of 6 deserts to finish. The price of €25 included as much beer, water, soft drinks or glasses of wine and coffee. You can choose a digestif instead of coffee (gin, whisky, brandy). The service was really good. Will I go back, definitely

First and last visit. Booked online for brunch for 10 people, but no option of choosing how many adults and children. We were a group of 6 adults, 2 children aged 2, and 2 children aged 5/6. Link to menu wasn’t working but assumed (naively that a range of options would be available. Called ahead to ask about the possibility of high chairs none available. On arrival, informed brunch was a set menu (nothing mentioned on website with a mix of sweet and savoury dishes our only choice was what to drink. Again, we naively assumed there would be an alternative menu for the kids better suited to their much smaller appetites. Wait staff then proceeded to bring out brunch for 10 adults, despite the fact one of our group was unable to make it so we ended up being 5 adults and 4 children aged 6 or under. The amount of food was insane 10 jars of greek yogurt, 10 jars of fruit, 10 croissants, 10 tostadas with pots of tomato, and jam, 2 plates of jamón, 3 bowls of hummus, 2 filled flatbreads, 2 cheese and tomato sandwiches, 2 huge plates of bacon and eggs and 3 donuts. The quality of food was fantastic, but the amount was excessive and there was no appreciation from staff of the needs of a group with children it felt like they completely took advantage and were laughing at us. To add insult to injury, we were presented with our bill (10 x 12€ before we had asked for it, and told we needed to vacate the table because people were waiting, despite the rest of the restaurant being almost empty! When we didn’t pay immediately, the waiter returned, rudely shouting ‘pagar’!! What’s such a shame is that the quality of the food was amazing, but the service really let them down. 12€ is a very reasonable price for so much food, as an adult, but charging the same price for adults and children, without asking how many ‘brunches’ you actually want, is misleading. Having lived in Valencia for 11 years, this was the most disappointing restaurant experience we have had. Most places we have visited are so accommodating to families, but this is most definitely not a family friendly location and only seemed interested in our money. Will not be returning!

Wonderful food, truffle chips delicious, great selection of food, and drinks were flowing, definitely coming back

The restaurant is fine, the `a problem is, that the discount only applies to the menu and not to each dish independently.

Food in quantity and very good. They were group dinners, I went with my partner alone and they put us in the inner courtyard. We were far from the hustle and the crowd. He got us a lot, plus the good deal.
