A friend and I were wondering down a street and noticed this restaurant, and after peaking in we decided we must have lunch there lucky find! The restaurant is housed in a 16th century building and the dining area is in a lovely covered...courtyard. There is an interior lounge and some indoor seating. It’s very small, maybe 6 8 tables, one waiter, and today there were 4 tables occupied. The service and the food were excellent. For starters there was an iced soup (soupe glacée) of tomatoes with a tomato ice cream with basil, and a whipped cream with basil. Also in the soup were little balls of white truffles dipped in balsamic.WOW. I now which I’d taken a photo of the menu board so I could do the dishes justice...it was divine! All of us had the dorado with a cream sauce, and the best sweet potato purée ever, and little risottos. Deserts were a panna cotta with red fruits, and a speculoos tiramisu, followed by coffee. Lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Everything clicked in for a perfect evening at this absolute gem of a restaurant. It's in a small courtyard formed from what remains of a 16th century house, quietly located on the edge of the old town. The staff clearly love being able to share...the place with visitors (the restaurant was set up to help fund renovation of the building), but also love to chat. They often feature live music: we were fortunate to hear a wonderful jazz guitar duo. And the food... Even as simple a thing as a ravioli starter had my daughter in raptures for days. The chef created a veggie version of the listed salad for her, which included 2 perfectly poached eggs that had then been quick-chilled to match the temperature of the other ingredients. My gambas were perfectly cooked and the fondant au chocolat was the best dessert I've had in a long time. It's only open between June and September. I'm already planning a 2018 trip around their season.
We popped in here and were blown away. It was towards the end of lunch service and they gave us a table in the courtyard. The menu was simple (4 options for each course) but everything we ordered was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly...also. I have been to Uzes a number of times and haven't been lucky enough to stumble across this place before. I'm so glad that we did today. We will definitely be returning.
Excellent lunch. Great personal service. Fabulous location ...far from the maddening crowd!! A real find and very reasonably priced!
