The best DD in the dmv. I’m a huge DD fan and probably have been to just about every one in the area but i find myself driving out of the way just to frequent this particular DD. The staff is very nice, patient and welcoming. The food is fresh and hot, drinks are always perfectly made. Love this place. As a fan of Starbucks Refresher drinks and Panera Bread's Strawberry Mint, I thought I would give the competition a try. I pulled up to the drive-thru and used a BOGO Free coupon to sample two different flavors. I ordered a large Raspberry Refresher with no ice and a medium Peach Refresher with no ice. There was no one in line ahead of me, and the service was fairly quick, so I reached the window almost immediately, paid, requested a receipt, and received my drinks. I had a few errands to run before picking up my youngest son, so I drove off without checking the receipt. Once I started drinking, I was immediately turned off by the taste—it was reminiscent of bad liquid medicine. My oldest son tried the Peach Refresher and felt the same way. The drinks were awful, and I made a mental note never to order those again. As I pulled out of the parking lot, I began to question the amount I paid; even with the coupon, the total seemed a bit high, so I looked at the receipt. I barely left the parking lot when I noticed an additional $1.00 charge for...wait for it...NO ICE! Are you kidding me?! They charged me $1.00 for requesting no ice on both drinks, but one was covered by the coupon. How can they justify charging for something they didn’t provide? I immediately turned around and went back to the drive-thru to ask about the charge. The employee informed me that they “always” charge this amount when a customer requests no ice! She then said they charge an extra $0.70 if someone requests light ice. I asked her to show me where this charge is listed on the menu, and she admitted it isn't included but claimed it was because I received more product. I told her that’s not how it works and demanded a refund of my dollar as that explanation was unacceptable. She insisted she couldn’t refund me because I had already received the products, asserting it was a legitimate charge. I challenged her and asked to speak to a manager, but she said none was available. Unsatisfied with that response, I went inside again, requesting the manager. I even took pictures of the drive-thru and indoor menu boards to show there was no mention of this extra charge. She reiterated that no manager was present and wouldn’t be available until next Monday. That’s infuriating! Thankfully, I had other commitments, including picking up my son from school, or I might have lost my temper in that establishment. I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau, the Maryland Attorney General, and sharing my experience on Google Reviews, Twitter, Facebook, and any other appropriate social media platforms. For those who say, “It’s just a dollar,” I remind you that every dollar counts, and it's MY money. I donate thousands annually, so if you needed a donation, just ask! But this situation is outright theft, and I will ensure it doesn't go unaddressed.
