Their xiao long baos are cooked perfectly, with lots of soup and a deliciously thin skin. We ordered 2 of each type of XLB for our group of 4, which was way too much! I mistakenly ordered pork and shrimp dumplings thinking they were siu mai, but they were not. We could have done without them. We also ordered water spinach and green beans as appetizers, along with braised beef in a clay pot and combo chow mein. Again, we ordered too much food for 4 people, only finishing half and feeling stuffed! The green beans were wonderfully flavorful and spicy. The vegetables were a bit too oily for my liking, so watch out for the extra grease in their dishes. However, this might be what makes the food taste so good. We couldn't distinguish which XLB contained crab, as they all tasted quite similar. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would definitely return to try more dishes.
We LOVE this place. The dumplings are so good!!! You can see them making it fresh in the back. Our favorites include the pork xiao long bao dumplings, the chicken chow mein, honey walnut prawns, and piggy buns for dessert. Remember these portions are BIG, so make sure you have friends to share with! The soup is literally served with a ladle that how big the bowl is. This place is traditional in the service as in, they do kinda ignore you, so the experience takes a little bit of time and don't be afraid to wave them down. I would say it is an authentic dumpling house!
I am writing this review to highlight the spicy intestine soup noodles at this restaurant, as I have not seen any reviews on it. Overall, I give this restaurant a 5-star rating. Our usual xlb dumpling orders are consistently good, but the intestine noodles are a 3.5 out of 5 for me. I enjoy the flavorful and well cleaned intestines, which are not overly chewy. However, I find the soup flavor to be lacking, with just a mild intestine aroma, and it is rather oily. The noodle texture does not complement the intestines, so I would not order this dish again.
I hear about this restaurant all the time so I can't believe I never noticed it next to Marina Grocery. I got the Spicy Brisket Noodle Soup and it was really good. The texture of the hand-pulled noodle is very appealing and so is the tenderness of the brisket. I was 9th in line on the waitlist and was seated in 15 minutes. Service is fast.
