I wouldnt recommend. The meals were well below average and when we mentioned that to the waitress, no apology or comment was given. The food was very basic and underwhelming. We won't be returning.
-----9 July, 2016----- It was a while between visits so we returned to Hotel HQ on Saturday night. I ordered the Cajun Salmon which was very nice. The only disappointing thing tonight was that it was a cold night and all the main dishes came with salad. I asked if I could swap it out for hot vegetables. They were prepared to offer this as a side for an additional $5 but not to swap it out. Not sure why the default is salad in July. Apart from that everything was good. -----19 July, 2015----- We were disappointed with the food here on Saturday night. We have had many great meals at Hotel HQ but maybe they had a bad night on Saturday. I ordered the meal of the day, which was prawn pad thai. It didn't taste like a proper pad thai. The prawns were lovely but there weren't enough vegetables. There was too much sauce and it tasted like it had come from a packet. The meal also got cold very quickly. My partner had a smoked salmon, avocado and brie pizza which he didn't like at all. He described it as soggy and there were simply too many toppings. It looked quite oily on top from the cheese. We'll give them another chance but don't recommend these meals. -----11 May, 2013----- We have been to Hotel HQ many times and have never had a bad meal or bad service. The staff are friendly and attentive. You won't find foie gras, foams or crepinette on the menu - and sometimes that's a good thing. This is afterall a suburban pub. They do regular food and they do it well. They know that families have kids so they not only provide a kids' menu, they also provide a kids playroom. This is a smart move because once the kids are engrossed in a video game or a plastic sword fight, the adults can talk over another round of drinks. Tonight I had the vegetable stack which is a new addition to the menu. It would have benefited from the addition of some protein (maybe a slice or two of halloumi) but was otherwise lovely with a delicious pesto. The fish of the day was salmon and came out with a wonderful crispy skin, broccolini and mashed sweet potato. The barramundi we well cooked an tasty. The rib eye was described as slightly charred but otherwise looked good. The decor is quite modern and spacious which also helps to keep the noise levels acceptable. All in all, it's not fine dining but it is a very good, modern suburban pub and I'm sure our family will enjoy many more meals here.

Locating at the junction of Logan and Kingston Road, this hotel is like the many other local hotels which targeti the suburrban population. I appreciate the wise strategy of having "Kid's menu" so that they can attract more family diners. Average price is reasonable and they do provide quality steak for your expensive tast buds. I usually won't go for any Asian style dish because I reckon no matter how good the Australian chef adopting the Asian cooking method, the dishes prepared are always not authentic at all. Therefore, I played the safety side to order the Crispy Prawn for entree and 300g Waygu Rump (Med-rared not Med. as in Fine-dining) as the main. It proved that I was right. The steak came out with just Med. and it is good for Waygu steak. There is tip here: this restaurant always run promotion itself or through Shop-a-docket. Keep your eyes on it.
