Get their act together and it could be a great place. Note, do not change...your order, stick with what you first said!
I am Asian and this lunch spot was recommended to me by my cousin, unfortunately. I took my brother there for lunch today and it was honestly the worst Asian meal we have ever had! The small, hole-in-the-wall Asian-style takeaway cafes in the Eastern Suburbs are much better, in my opinion. I don't consider this place to be the best as it serves westernized Asian food (Thai and Malaysian). After lunch, I got some dinner to go for my son and ended up throwing it away when I got home. I had leftovers from lunch, so I decided to take that home for dinner instead. But I was surprised to be charged 50 cents for a takeout box to pack it myself! This has never happened to me before! I ended up throwing that away too. Shame on you! Asian food is loved by everyone, so restaurants should take pride in the diverse and delicious culinary styles that Asians have to offer.
This restaurant is one that is tried and true. Authenticity of Malaysian is not too bad. The Hainan chicken rice and Char Kway Teow are both reliable and consistent. However you really have to try the Fish Head Curry which would be the main drawcard...for eating at this restaurant. the place can and does get a little crowded and rowdy, especially on weekends. Also, access to the washrooms are a bit limited with the limited amount of staff. You have to have a staff member unlock the door to the washrooms which are downstairs and not wheelchair/disable friendly. Price is quite reasonable being close to Sydney University and Broadway shopping centre. Well worth a try if you haven't been to this restaurant before. Food is OK but do go earlier as unfortunately the service does drop off the busier the restaurant gets.
Delicious inexpensive Malaysian (and Thai) food is served in this informal indoor-outdoor eating establishment. Serves are quite large and I found both our dishes rich. We had dry curry prawns and pumpkin with salted duck egg. There was quite a selection in the menu which...will tempt me back. Service was friendly but not particularly attentive.
I visited this restaurant with a friend who had been there a few times and thought it was great. I was surprised because the food and service were both very good. We arrived at about 8 o'clock and the place was full. The service was efficient and friendly, our order was taken as soon as we had decided what to get from the extensive menu. Our meals arrived quickly and our request for a takeaway was also handled quickly. We ordered the capitan chicken, roti canai, and were recommended to try the kam heong prawns special. All the dishes were very tasty but the prawns really stood out. The meals were not cheap but the portions were large and made with good quality and well-cooked chicken and fish. The roti was fluffy, not too oily, and best of all, not sweet. I will definitely try to visit again.
