Mr. Chen's Chinese - Trussville

The restaurant abruptly closed without any prior notice. Customers arrived to dine during regular hours, only to find the doors locked. This was incredibly disappointing. While they weren't overwhelmed with business, there were always patrons present when I left.

I'm not an expert on traditional Chinese cuisine, but I do have a fondness for General Tso's chicken. This restaurant serves one of the best versions I've ever tasted. I believe that anyone who rates it low should have to pass a writing test first!

When it comes to Mr. Chen's, the key aspect to consider is authenticity. If you're simply looking for familiar Chinese dishes like General Tso's Chicken or Beef with Broccoli, you might not find this place particularly impressive. Their true strength lies in the obscure, authentic, and exotic dishes they provide. While the menu is somewhat more limited than the Hoover location, this restaurant still features a variety of genuine offerings, including soups and hot pots. Dishes like pork in black bean sauce, eggplant with pork, and basil hot pot, as well as basil squid, are noteworthy. So, why not step out of your comfort zone and try something beyond the typical Sesame Chicken?

Beautiful service and very fresh food! So excited to have a great Chinese food nearby where we live! And the egg drop soup was the bomb! We have both the orange chicken and the general Tso chicken that were both on the point!

The service is so attentive it's almost annoying. There are many choices on the menu, some i haven't seen on other asian menus like lamb, two kinds of ribs.... The portions were on the large size and very tasty. I have eaten there twice, once for lunch and once for dinner.
