A group of 10 on a Saturday night at 7 PM, the restaurant was 80% full. We didn't leave until 9:30, having skipped dessert and coffee. Overall, the experience was...
Anthony, you are our favorite! Great service. Thank you!
I had to request extra mayo and ketchup just to be able to eat the burger, which was extremely dry. What a disappointing burger!
Since we were quite hungry, we decided to make our late lunch our main meal of the day. My son started with a Caesar salad, which was good, but for some reason, it was overloaded with croutons—there had to be at least half the salad made up of them! It was likely a funny mistake, but luckily, the croutons were tasty, so he shared some with my wife, who had ordered soup, and with me since I didn’t have a starter. For his main course, my son chose the pasta carbonara, which looked enticing both in pictures and on the tables of nearby diners. My wife and I tried it too and agreed with our son, who is a pasta fan, that while it was good, it was a bit too thick and creamy, with a strong bacon flavor for a carbonara. However, it was delicious in a rich, almost macaroni and cheese-like way. I ordered the filet mignon sandwich, served like a burger with a side of fries. I found it strange that our server—who was friendly and attentive, speaking both English and French—didn’t ask how I wanted it cooked. I pondered this after placing my order, but when the sandwich arrived, the filet mignon was cooked perfectly medium, with a light pink center and a nicely seared exterior. It was incredibly tender, about half an inch thick, and served hot. The aioli, lettuce, and bun were all spot-on, and the fries were exceptional. Canadians truly take their French fries seriously; these were made from fresh white potatoes and had a slightly sweet taste. For her starter, my wife enjoyed the soup of the day, a cream of mushroom soup that was wonderfully mushroom-flavored (in a good way). She loves that kind of dish, and after tasting it, I realized that if I had been as hungry as she claimed, I would have ordered it instead of my sandwich, as beef and mushrooms make a great pairing. As for her entree, my wife had a grilled chicken plate topped with a flavorful sauce, served with potato wedges and vegetables. She reported that it was good, not dry, and just what she was looking for—a lighter option than a beef or carb-heavy dish. She munched a lot of my fries and praised how delicious they were. Overall, we only had soft drinks, but the meal was satisfying and exactly what we needed for our road trip.
