The Akeman, Tring

Absolutely nothing to write home about. This was my first time there and my last. The layout was really nice and the waiting staff very pleasant. However, my roast pork was served on the warm side. Presentation was nice but the food didn't taste great. I could tell it had been dragged out of the fridge and re-warmed. Chefs threw food onto plates where it sat motionless, it was only when hot gravy was poured over it did it show signs of life. A side of cauliflower cheese was regretful as the cauliflower was grey and burnt in places and tasted rather bland.

A local legend, great friendly staff and team serving good honest food for all ages. Whether going as a couple, a family or a large group there is something that can be found on the menu here for everyone tastes. Several of the menu items look pricey, (im looking at you steaks) but are wonderfully cooked and worth it. The team were also very accommodating with a couple of allergies, showing they had knowledge of the food they were serving and how to make everyone feel welcome.

We were a party of 4 for an evening meal. We've been to the Akeman many times before. Initially, we were a little concerned how much the prices had gone up but the qualty of service, food, and drink more than made up for that. I had mistakenly booked the Akeman, Aylesbury (which I didn't know existed) but the staff sorted a table out for us. This was extremely accommodating, especially as the pub was very busy. We had a couple of starters (soup, gralic bread) and 2 Beef Brisket mains (off of the specials list), Sea Bass, and a Pizza. We then had the Cookie dough and Sticky Toffee pudding for desserts. All were simply excellent and couldn't be faulted. All washed down with a lovely Malbec and Espresso Martini (which was mixed to perfection). Service was attentive, friendly, and efficient throughout. We really couldn't fault a thing. Thanks again for being so swift and accommodating for the initial mix up. You made our evening.

Second time visiting here. The first time was great so the bar was set high. On the second visit it was exceptional. The menu has changed and does not disappoint. The service was great, we were greeted promptly and offered drinks. They allowed plenty of time between starters and main and asking if we were ready. I highly recommend this venue and look forward to going back.

Best place to eat ! Quality food, friendly staff, really good atmosphere The food is simple , but amazing! Definitely be back again
