I decided to give it a go as I have not been successful in finding a true chinese restaurant in town that has amazing food. My partner and I decided to order takeaway instead of dining in as it was a Monday night. There is a lot on offer with the menu including curries. We were very happy with the variety of food we chose. We ordered a seafood omelette, Pork /veges with garlic sauce, chicken chow mein and special fried rice. All of it was cooked wonderfully. It was extremely fresh. Both partner and I both agreed it is the best chinese food we have had in a very long time. We had leftovers for dinner the following night and it still tasted great 24 hours later. I highly recommend giving this family restaurant a go, you won't be disappointed. The lady advised it was going to be a 30 min wait so we went next door and washed the car at the car wash whilst we waited. There is a lounge in the premises if you prefer to sit and wait. If you are going to be dining in, remember to take your own alcohol.
Best Chinese in Townsville! every time we come we get exceptional quality. Dining in not that appealing but lovely ppl with great food. Delivery service is great. Crispy duck, chicken and vegetables omg! And yes Iam a real costumer lol
Visited Taiping on a Sunday night for takeaway. My partner and I were the only people who were there. We actually thought they were closed when we pulled up. Service was great but we were given a 20min wait for our food. Hate to see the wait if they were busy. I never mind waiting for good food but it was fairly average. It was as you would expect basic Chinese takeaway to taste but was by far anything special (we had beef black bean, chicken chow mein, fried rice, spring rolls). It lacked any strong flavours, was a little watery and, as a result, the consistency was a bit strange. Didn't even bother keeping the leftovers. I'm always on the lookout for small little takeaway places that are hidden gems but this one didn't wow me at all. Won't be going back sadly. Good luck to them though as I love to see small businesses doing well.
We have previously lived in Hong Kong and enjoy Cantonese food. We enjoy taking groups of people to the Taiping Restaurant because Rosanna and Thomas will cook us beautiful food that is not on the menu. The decor is typical of Hong Kong and we can have exclusive use of the restaurant. If you want something special that is not Australianized just ask. Notice is recommended as they can source fresh foods. Ask for the steamed fish. Delicious
Had takeaway, was concerned while I was waiting as I heard lots of microwave beeps and boiling, no stirfrying. I could see through to the kitchen, and saw the chef mostly watching the TV. To me it looked like reheating rather than cooking. Very bland food, was obviously not stir fried, no color or flavour. Even when I got home and opened the containers, there was no yummy Chinese food smell. Wonton soup was mostly wonton wrappers, very little soup at all. I'd call it a dry soup. Looked like the chicken in the chow mein was pre boiled and pulled apart, just like a roast chicken looks like . A few boiled vegetables and no flavour. Won't even go into the steak dish. Had a few mouthfuls, and just ate the fried noodles I got......worst $50 spent. All went into the bin. Stay away if you're u enjoy a good Chinese meal
