Japango - Toronto

Used to frequent Japango a lot circa 2002 2006 and the quality has dropped off somewhat. It’s still reasonably fresh, and the presentation is quality, however at the prices they are charging the quality needs to be on point on the non fish items. On this outing the sushi rice was quite hard and cooled down very quickly, the miso soup was tasty, but completely unadorned not a cube of tofu, a piece of green onion nor a lone sheaf of seaweed graced it. Some of the fish had begun to develop a bit of oiliness in the palette, so it wasn’t at peak freshness and the tea was served lukewarm. Which really says it all: far the prices Japango is charging, one can easily do better.

Wonderful service and food! Really recommend the chirashi. Every single grain of rice is really well seasoned and the fish is so fresh! Well worth the price.

This downtown restaurant is a hidden gem! The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. We can't wait to come back and try more items from the menu soon!

This restaurant is a hidden gem for delicious and affordable authentic sushi. Although the seating is limited, it is not overly crowded. They offer a wide variety of sushi options, including sashimi and nigiri. I particularly enjoyed their uni nigiri, which tasted just like what I had in Japan, and their unagi bowl was also delicious.

A rather depressing place. Very tired decor food very average. Staff not happy! Needs fresh energy to up their game.
