Ali's West Indian Roti Shop - Toronto

Honestly, I'm gonna gush about this place, I don't know how this place has any bad reviews. I love Ali's. It is the best roti spot in Toronto. I have been trying different ones for years to find one that compares closer, and I can't find one place that matches this one for me which is why they have my loyalty for life. I grew up eating home made roti and curry chicken every week and Ali's hits that nostalgia. I wish there was another location in the city closer to me, I would go so much more often I travel from North York after a long day at work to come here... I have ordered the same things for years and never once have I been disappointed. The owner is such a nice guy too. Portions are big. Everything is always fresh. I hope Ali's is around forever.

HORRIBLE Ordered a Roti with vegetarian potato filling paid extra to have chickpeas also it cost $18 incl tax. The Roti was all bread it had next to nothing in terms of filling. This restaurant is such a rip off Ali how chincy can you be How much is potato and chickpea that you provide next to zero actual food in your Roti. This was also no accident either after I ordered the first time and had this experience, we gave this restaurant another try and it happened again So now my family is done with this rip off restaurant. Hope it is worth saving a few pennies Ali and loosing repeat customers.

Flavorful like homestyle cooking to enjoy. We tried roti, chickpeas, snacks and all were good. Worth a stop in the neighborhood.

I had two deliveries. I purchased a variety of food to last a few days each time. It added some variety to my diet. The King Fish Rice; Oxtail, Rice Peas Salad; Shrimp (6) Dhalpourie; Goat Dhalpourie; Doubles; Sahina (5 balls); Aloo Pie; Cassava Pone; Coconut Soursop Ice cream and a cup of Mauby. Everything was delicious. I loved the tamarind sauce. It has a bit of pepper but you can add extra pepper. I don't eat pepper but it added a nice flavour to the doubles, sahina etc. I like extra gravy with my roti so I suggest, if you like extra gravy too, then order your roti separate rather than wrapped. The extra gravy would cause the roti to fall apart if it was wrapped. The Oxtail and Rice Peas was divine. Next time I'll get a large tub of the ice cream. The small container is equivalent to about 1 scoop of ice cream. It is too good to just eat 1 scoop. The Mauby was too strong for me but I added an equivalent amount of water and some honey and it was delicious. My Auntie Cis was the only person to make it how I like it. With the extra water and honey, this one was pretty good. The Cassava Pone is delicious. A bite now and then makes it last longer... so good. I thought the servings were a good size. I made 2 meals out of each dish. I would definitely order food from Ali's again.

I had never had doubles or roti before so I was intrigued to see what it was like. Great vegetarian selection and really nice food. It’s not posh but it does the job.
