I notice this is a recurrent theme in reviews both in French and in English. He treats...his staff like slaves and certain customers like cattle (or worse) but not all. We've been before, and not had the problem but this will be the last time. We took our lunch business elsewhere.
Delicious food! Very fresh and warm welcome! Love it. Will come back! The sea is clean and the beach is great
First things first: This has easily been one of the best restaurant experiences ever! Not because it's been the best food ever or the best wine ever etc. It's the overall experience that made it special every time. I went here three times throughout last...week once for lunch by myself, twice for dinner in different size groups. Every time the combination of good food, good drinks, superb service (without being artificial or in your face) and the fantastic location merged into a unique experience. Essentially, this is a beach café/bar/restaurant, which gives it a super relaxed atmosphere. The staff from the boss to the kitchen aids I met outside when I left exude that same relaxed groove while being super attentive. Then venue down on the beach is of course awesome as well. Lot's of nice yachts and Cannes in the distance. If you are in the area and want to get into holiday mode asap, I recommend coming here for a lunch or dinner. The feeling of relaxation will be instant.
We wanted to have lunch at the cafe adjacent to the restaurant. Sat down and were promptly ignored while others arrived and placed takeaway orders at the bar. After minutes I got up to fetch us some menus. Ignored for another minutes, meanwhile...another couple came in and the guy ordered at the bar so the waitress started making his coffee. I looked over to try and catch the waitress’s eye and she shouted ‘j’arrive, j’arrive madame’ in such an aggressive way that my husband refused to stay and we left. We used to come here when it was Cabanas and not owned by les Frères de la Baie, and the service and food quality was always top. No longer true sadly so won’t be bothering again.
We dropped in for a late dinner. The menu seemed to have vegetarian/pescatarian options. However, they were all out of the lobster risotto. What a disappointment. We all decided on some version of a set menu. It was fine. The atmosphere made up for it....Late dinner at sunset on the Mediterranean the food wasn’t necessarily the highlight, but it wasn’t bad either. We had no problems with the staff. They were very generous and understanding of our language limitations.
