The night we visited they were very busy. Bartender was brand new, and she was amazing but should have had help. Toward the end of our stay, the Manager came behind the bar to help her, which was good...until we saw her handled glassed by putting her entire hand in the glass prior to preparing the drink for a guest. When she was refilling the ice...her extremely long hair was getting in her way...so she tossed her head back and forth (yes, her hair was hitting the bar, glasses, bottles and the ice bin she just filled and proceeded to use both hands to tie her hair back with the band she had in her hand. (Jon Taffer would have had a fit). We had been talking, and after I paid our bill, I very nicely told her what a good job the bartender did (which is when I found out she was brand new) and kindly told her that her practices behind the bar were not good. She was kind in return, but made excuses about an arm injury and the hair yes, she realized while she was doing it. She is the manager...and should NOT be doing it. Then, she proceeded to trash other FMK Restaurants (all while saying how much she loved working for FMK). I just thought she was very unprofessional for a manager of a country club restaurant.
We chose a table on the back porch which has overhead heaters (welcome on an unexpectedly chilly night) overlooking the golf course. We were treated to an amazing sunset and a crescent moon. Once darkness settles, they roll down shades that turn this outdoor space into a cozy dining venue. We were there for German night--schnitzel and veggies and an awesome cheddar cheese and broccoli soup. The menu offers a wide variety of light fare and full dinners. I chose the panko encrusted cod and a salad--my friends enjoyed the German special. It was all good, nicely served. Staff here go that extra mile to make you feel like a special guest. Decor is faintly New York 1940s style, There's a great square bar at the rear. We liked it very much and would go again.
Just wanted to give 2 big thumbs up to Ashley, the manager. It was a busy night, with Petrina and the Thriller dance group performing. I had requested a certain round table for our party of 7 about a week in advance. When we got there, the hostess said our table had another party’s name on it so so couldn’t let us sit there. When I asked to speak with the manager, Ashley was very apologetic and instantly fixed the problem that the hostess couldn’t or wouldn’t. What a great impression Ashley made for herself and for the restaurant! So nice to be treated like a valued customer! Thank you, Ashley. Job well done!!
We have eaten at Belle Glades twice. The first time we ordered Fish and Chips, which is a regular menu item. It was very good, light and not greasy. The second time, we ordered the special which was shrimp creole. I have never tasted anything that could be further than the truth. The only two things they got right was the shrimp and rice. The sauce was actually sweet and tasted like it was something that came out of a package that the chef misread! To top it off, the portions were small (thankfully). We asked for bread and were told that they had run out of it. This was at 5:00. I will say that the hostess was very sweet and both waitresses were attentive and entertaining. We will not eat there again even though it is only half a mile from our home. There are many other restaurants in the area to choose from.
