Barnaby's Cafe

I was surprised to find it empty on a Sunday morning. The service was excellent, and the menu had some interesting options. The food was good, though nothing extraordinary. There were some unusual flavor combinations, but overall, it's definitely worth a visit.

Barnaby's exemplifies consistency! The menu has mostly stayed the same, except for the outrageous price hike on the quesadilla, of all things! I still love this place, but come on—can you at least explain why the quesadilla's price jumped a whopping $10? It went from $7 to $17 in just a few years!

I was taking the Houston Metro back to my car after picking up a fleet vehicle, and the stop where I switched buses was conveniently located right next to Barnaby's. Since it was lunchtime, I decided to check it out. The prices for lunch surprised me a bit, but I assumed it was just a result of being downtown and the current economic climate. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich, and it was delicious! The chips that came with it were outstanding; they must be homemade. I finished half of the sandwich there and took the other half home, and even after microwaving, the chips were still fantastic! It was an unexpected delight!

I was heartbroken when they removed the carnitas torta from the menu, as it was definitely one of my favorite tortas in Houston. Many people were surprised that my top choice wasn’t from a Mexican restaurant. However, the food is still fantastic, the service is excellent, and the ambiance was just what I needed on a rainy Sunday night. The Luna lasagna is delicious, and they serve a great bison burger as well. If you love lemonade, you won't be disappointed with theirs either.

Everything about this restaurant suits me perfectly. The staff is truly my favorite aspect; they are incredibly welcoming, inclusive, and warm as soon as you step through the door. Whenever I ask for a recommendation, I always get more than I expected, and the food is delicious! I’ve tried the chicken Caesar salad, turkey burger, mushroom burger, and carrot cake, and I recommend all of them. I’m definitely becoming a regular whenever my budget allows for dining out.
