フィードバックを提供するThe George and Dragon, Hurstbourne Tarrant A pub lunch with the grandparents! Gran has been dying to go here so she decided to take me before going back to Uni. Came on a Friday lunchtime and it was steadily busy. It was warm, with a cosy atmosphere sat next to the fire. We decided to go for starters in which I got the soup of the day, with sourdough bread, which was a roasted red pepper and tomato. It came out piping hot which is always a good sign and the roasted red pepper flavour hit me immediately. The bread was lightly toasted so it was a little toasted on the outside but still very fluffy in the middle and accompanied the soup nicely. The balsamic drizzle on the top of the soup added a lovely hint of sweetness, which I really enjoyed. For main, I went for the special venison burger. This contained a venison patty in a brioche bun, lettuce, truffle mayo, blue cheese, and caramelised onion. And wow was it a special! The strong flavour of the venison was perfectly balanced out with the sweetness of the onions, and truffle mayo is my absolute FAVOURITE so was a massive fan of this. Portion size was also very good, I was so full afterwards. The chips were very generously salted, but luckily for me I love salty chips so this was no issue, as well as being very crispy, which again I love. We were too full for puddings, but for main course Gran had the fish and chips (as shown in the picture), which she said was lovely, but was too full to finish it (shock). Overall service was really good, and it was a lovely meal. Quite pricey for a village pub, but would go again. The seasonal menu changes frequently, so I would like to try the summer menu too.
I stayed at this restaurant during the week and had a great experience. The room was nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable, making my stay enjoyable. The evening food was delicious, with many ingredients sourced locally and used by the chef to create fantastic dishes. Breakfast is served from 8:30am and when I came down, the fires were already roaring, creating a cozy atmosphere. There were plenty of options for breakfast but I opted for the avocado and egg dish which was served with a delicious coffee. It was the perfect way to start my day!
We stayed at this restaurant after our cruise for one night. It is truly a charming place with high-quality bedding, towels, and toiletries. Our room was small and simple, but it suited our needs perfectly. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. The room was quite warm, but this was likely due to an unusual heatwave and not the fault of the establishment.
My partner and I stopped by this pub on a whim and we are glad we did! It was a busy Wednesday night but we were able to get a table. The food was outstanding, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy. The only issue for me, personally, is that they allow dogs inside. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a table with a large dog that triggered my allergies, so I was quite uncomfortable by the end of the meal.
Fantastic dinner food was excellent as was the service they looked after our group very well on what was a very busy night pub has been beautifully decorated since the last time I was here and the outside areas look amazing
